HRT
Motorsports rockets Kawasaki Teryx 750 RUV
to 7th place in its maiden voyage.
Hemet, CA (2/28/2008) - Team
HRT Motorsports pulled an “all-nighter”
in preparation for the annual Soboba Grand
Prix this past weekend. The team took delivery
of the all new Kawasaki Teryx just one night
before the race. After much thought, the anticipation
of driving the new UTV was just too much so
the decision was made to make just a few modifications
to make the vehicle race ready. Team manager
Chris Hawks stated “With this race being
an hour long, we have a great chance to finish
on the podium with the Teryx against all the
modified UTVs. It looks like Kawasaki has
built a very capable UTV, and our modified
competition is going to have a lot of attrition.”

There were 42 UTV’s that lined up for
the green flag start and the Teryx did not disappoint
as they all rushed for the first turn. Heading
into the hills of the 7 mile course team driver
Todd Arthur was running just outside the top
ten. “We got off to a great start against
a lot of highly modified UTV’s and I was
really impressed with the power and handling
of the Teryx”. On the first lap, lady
luck reared its ugly head as an impact from
behind by another driver sent the Teryx off
the track. “After the collision with the
other driver I took it easy just to make sure
the Teryx was not damaged. Once I knew the Teryx
was good, I put the hammer down and focused
on picking off as many guys as I could.”
commented Todd.

In the remaining laps Todd piloted the Teryx
from outside the top twenty to inside the
top ten. “As the pack spread out, I
wasn’t sure where we were overall but
I just kept pushing and going as fast as the
Teryx would go.” Eventually, Todd would
cross the finish line in 7th place and first
finishing “stock” UTV. “The
Kawasaki Teryx did awesome and I look forward
to seeing it’s full potential in the
Pro UTV class this year.” Team HRT is
excited about a great year with the new Teryx
as it will get to work making it ready for
the 2008 CORR series which starts near the
end of April, right around the corner!
