Holz Racing's William Yokley Wins Powerline Park GNCC
GNCC Racing - ATV & SxS XC Racing
Lynden, WA (10/16/2013) - Coming off a tough loss at
Vegas to Reno, the Holz/Coastal RZR XP rolled into Parker, AZ with
a plan: run smooth, run solid and get to the front. The Blue Water
Desert Challenge is a 150 mile race, with a unique two-day format
(consisting of 3, 25 mile laps per day)run along the Colorado River
out side Parker, AZ. And with all the water around you’d think there
wouldn’t be dust — but you’d be wrong.
Leaving the line at a little after 6:15am Saturday morning as the sun
was rising and starting from the 11th spot, Mark Holz knew he’d be
battling that dust along the 25 mile course. With a solid performance
and clean run, the #1934 Holz/Coastal RZR XP 900 ended up
with a second place on the day.
Sunday morning, the #1934 rolled to the start line and started from
the front row alongside the #1919 of Brandon Schueler/Jagged X.
As the flag dropped, the #1934 pulled the holeshot and Holz and
co-driver Brian MacLean settled in to a decent pace in clean air. On
the second lap, a back and forth battle with a JeepSpeed entry left
the RZR XP dragging through the heavy sand. After tracing it to a
failed CV, and repairing it on course — Holz and MacLean rolled in
and finished an unofficial fifth.
“We had a great run going today but got bit by some bad luck.
This one is going to go down to the wire.” said Mark Holz.
The Coastal/Holz RZR XP is supported by Polaris Industries,
Walker Evans Racing, Holz Racing Products, Kroyer Racing Engines,
BFGoodrich tires and Utendorfer Graphic Design.
Moving back east and getting out of the desert and into the tight
woods of Ohio, the Coastal GNCC team was lining up with 64 other
UTV’s to do battle at Powerline Park in St. Clairsville, OH. The
six lap race was brutal with plenty of action in the tight woods.
Finishing in just under an hour (59:59.406) William Yokley in the
#1 Coastal/Holz/Polaris RZR XP 900 captured the overall and the
XC1 win. With his third win of the season, the Coastal/Holz team
heads into the final round with a 12 point lead.

“This is what’s great about the state of UTV racing right now —
great action all over the country. We had guys racing in Arizona,
Nevada and Ohio this weekend. We took podiums in the top series,
and crowned with three WORCS championships. Our partners
make this all possible... great vehicles from Polaris, top notch
shocks from the best in the business... Walker Evans Racing, and
power from Kroyer Racing Engines.” said Mark Holz.
The HRP UTV Racers will be racing to the end, going for championships
in the GNCC and Best In The Desert Series. The Coastal
GNCC team has one remaining race the Ironman in Crawford, IN
at the end of October, while Mark Holz and Scott Kiger’s Coastal/
Holz RZR XP will head to Henderson, NV for the last round of the
Best in the Desert series - The Henderson 250 on December 6th.
