Beau Baron Wins WORCS SxS & ATV Pro Class

Ridgecrest, CA - (5/14/2014) - H&M Motorsports claimed four podium finishes at round number five of the 2014 WORCS series, with Beau Baron taking wins in both the ATV Pro and SxS Pro classes and David Haagsma finishing on the podium in the Pro ATV and SxS 1000 classes.

Good weather, although a little windy, was on hand for round five at the Desert Empire Fairgrounds in Ridgecrest, CA. This was the first time the series had traveled to that location where the team was introduced to a variety of track conditions. There were high speed desert sections, MX, asphalt and concrete. A technical log section was also added for the Pro class on Sunday.

Beau Baron WORCS

Beau Baron, who was seeking redemption from the last round, came off the line and quickly moved into third. By the second lap, Baron had taken over the lead. In the final three laps, a spun out rider almost cost Baron the win. “One of the Pro-am guys spun out right in front of me and was in my way. I tried to get around him in the log section and I stalled out. I dropped back to second, but I made a charge and got back out front. I worked really hard for this win. I am really stoked to make it happen,” said Baron.

David Haagsma WORCS

David Haagsma was in mid pack off the start, but Haagsma kept his cool and started picking people off. Haagsma had worked his way into second, but fell back for a third place finish. “This was a really fun track. It did get a little rough out there, but my Maxxis tires and Elka suspension worked great and I was able to finish on the podium,” said Haagsma.

On Saturday things got a little interesting for the SxS classes when 70 MPH winds stirred up a dust storm that brought near white out conditions. “It was pretty crazy out there.  You couldn’t really see because of all the sand blowing,” said Beau Baron.

The visibility issues didn’t seem to matter much to Baron, however as he shot off the Pro SxS start and grabbed the holeshot. Baron led from start to finish and took his third win of the season and now has a 13 point lead over second place in the points chase. “My Maxxis tires hooked up and my Sparks engine worked great out there. It was tough to see sometimes, but I just kept going and was able to take the win. The only tough time I had out there was the sand. The Polaris ran great and I couldn’t be happier with the results,” said Baron.

David Haagsma WORCS

David Haagsma finished second in the WORCS Racing SxS 1000 Class

In the SXS 1000 class, David Haagsma started on the front row and was holding down fourth going into the second lap. Haagsma then began closing in on third place and quickly made the pass, and then went for second. By the third lap, Haagsma was in the number two spot and chasing down the leader. “It was hard to pass so I just pressured and hoped they would make a mistake. It worked and I got by. Once I got into second, I started chasing down the leader and caught up to him, but I ran out of time and settled for second. My Polaris was running great out there and I was really happy with that. Next round I am hoping for the win,” said Haagsma.

The H&M Motorsports team will get a two month break from the WORCS series where they will be training and prepping to head to Pala, CA for round six on July 11-13, where they will be going for the top of the podium.
