Bakersfield, CA (4/25/2013) - H&M Motorsports’ Beau Baron earned his third win in a row at the Rocky Mountain ATV MC WORCS race at Sand Hollow OHV riding park. David Haagsma raced to second in the Pro ATV class and earned his third win in a row in the SxS Production 700 Class.

Sand Hollow was an all-new venue for the WORCS and featured an immense 13 mile track. The long track meant less laps than normal and 25 minute lap times for the ATV’s. Baron didn’t let the long track intimate him and raced his Maxxis Tires’ Honda to victory in the Pro ATV Class.

Baron had a slow start, but wasted little time taking the lead. Baron was in first when he came through scoring on lap one and each lap laid a larger gap between himself and the rest of the field. The track varied from extremely wide sections to single line sections. Baron took advantage of the wide spots and quickly moved around traffic to extend his lead until he reached the checkers on lap five.

The sand based track forced the racers to change up their quad set up a little and Baron had his Elka Honda dialed in perfectly, “My Maxxis Tires worked awesome. We ran a lower air pressure for the sand and they worked well. The Tire Blocks gave me confidence to hit all the rocks and my suspension was set perfect. I had no issues in the huge whoops,” regarded Baron after his win.

Maxxis Tires’ David Haagsma got out front of the pack quickly on his Curtis Sparks powered Honda. Haagsma had the lead for part of the first lap, but fell to second when Baron charged through. Haagsma hooked up with his teammate and pushed right behind him until midway through the race.

On lap three, Haagsma noticed his rear brakes fading and soon lost them. He wanted to keep it safe on the brutal sand track so had to back his speed down for the remainder of the race. Haagsma held strong to the second spot and finished and impressive four minutes ahead of fourth spot.

“My Sparks Racing engine pulled great though the deep sand. It ran great. My Elka suspension really had to work hard; if they hadn’t worked so well I probably would have been on my head a few times,” said Haagsma of his H&M Motorsports Honda.

The H&M Motorsports duo also ruled the SxS races. Interestingly, WORCS decided to run all the SxS classes at the same time due to the length of the track. This gave the racers incentive to go for both class wins and overall positions.

Haagsma grabbed the holeshot in his Holz backed Polaris RZR and got into an intense battle with another racer. Haagsma kept the wheel to wheel battle going all race and edged out the competition by 02.904! Haagsma was also the highest finishing 700 class racer, taking an impressive sixth overall.

“My RZR worked great. The Curtis Sparks engine got me off to a great start and Holz had it prepared perfectly. It was gnarly to race against everyone and I had the most fun I ever have racing a SxS,” said Haagsma.

Baron got off the line in good position in the SxS Pro Production class; he made a mistake early on and stalled his RZR, but quickly got moving and passed his way toward the front. He had moved into third spot and was pushing for the leaders when he was hit by a competitor. There was some damage done to his RZR so he decided to back down a bit and focus on finishing. Baron rounded out the top three in the class.

Currently, Baron holds the points lead in both the Pro ATV Class and the Pro Production SxS Class. Haagsma is in a close second in the Pro ATV Class and also holding second place in the SxS Production 700 class.

The H&M Motorsports Team will be back in action at round five of the WORCS in Taft, California May 10th – 12th. They will be the ones to watch in both the Pro ATV class and the SxS classes as they fight to earn their respected championships.
