Maxxis Tire’s Chris Bithell Podiums at Mountaineer Run GNCC

Irwin, PA (6/24/2013) - Chris Bithell put in another stellar ride aboard his Ye Old Cycle Barn / Fourwerx Suzuki. The eighth round of the AMSOIL Grand National Cross Country season featured gnarly rocks, steep hills and sloppy mud. Bithell raced to a third place finish to secure his fifth podium of the season at the second running of the Mountaineer Run in Masontown, West Virginia.
Interestingly, Bithell raced his first race ever at the track at the young age of 14 and was excited to get back into the woods that he grew up racing through. He got the #4 off the line in good position and was in sixth as the pro’s entered the woods. Bithell charged and took over the fourth spot by the end of lap one.
“The first lap was great, we were really pushing. We don’t usually put the hammer down that early, but it was all business as soon as we got into the woods,” regarded Bithell.
Bithell battled in the second and third position as he gained on the leader. The race lasted five laps, and after a lot of position swapping Bithell fell into the third spot as the racers neared the finish. Bithell crossed the finish line an impressive 01:39.313 ahead of fourth place.
“Today was great! The fans were everywhere and really kept us going. The track was fun, lots of rocks and you really had to pay attention, but that can be expected here. I love racing here because this is where I grew up and we had a good outcome,” said Bithell from the podium.
While on the podium Bithell made a huge announcement; he informed the crowd that in just a few short months he’ll be riding a KR4 Arrive and Ride 250f dirt bike at the Gusher GNCC in Foxburg, PA. Bithell has been a long time supporter of both two and four wheels and is very excited for his opportunity with KR4.
The #4 will be back on the line in just two weeks at the Snowshoe Resort in Snowshoe, West Virginia. Bithell has had success at Snowshoe in the past and is looking to put his Reliable Tool Suzuki out front at the round.
