GBC Motorsports' Racers Win Five Classes at General GNCC
GBC Motorsports GNCC Racing

Anaheim, CA (3/21/2014) - A quick six day turnaround after the opening round saw the team of GBC Motorsports supported racers roll into Aonia Pass MX park in Washington, GA ready to take on the red clay and deep ruts of one of the longest running stops on the GNCC tour. Near perfect track conditions and 70 degree temps made for excellent racing conditions as things got underway Saturday.

Jordan Phillips

Jordan Phillips won the newly formed GNCC Pro 4x4 Class at the General GNCC

In morning race action Jordan Phillips had a breakthrough performance with his first ever Pro 4x4 class win. Jordan and his family have been longtime GNCC enthusiasts and their elation was evident as they celebrated the big win! Following Jordan home in 2nd place - just one second back - was multi-time champion Bryan Buckhannon. BNR Motorsports’ Rob Smith rebounded from some early mechanical issues to finish 4th.

Tanner Bowles grabbed the top spot in the 4x4 A/B class aboard his GBC Dirt Commander equipped machine with Round 1 winner Bo Jones in 2nd.

In the all new premier WXC class it was Quincy Cunningham taking top honors with Kara Merritt following her home in 2nd place. Kara’s pair of 2nd place scores have her holding the points lead after the first two rounds of competition.

Young Shane Pitzer added to the GNCC class win tally by topping the Schoolboy C class.

In the afternoon Pro race it was rookie XC1 rider Jay Shadron leading the way for GBC with his 8th place finish aboard his XC-Master clad Yamaha. Johnny Gallagher was right behind Jay in 9th place at day’s end, with BNR’s Kevin Yoho rounding out the top 10.

XC2 class action was intense as expected with Randy Hamilton bringing home 4th place ahead of Brody Livengood, whose 5th place finish matches a career best. Michael McAvoy rebounded from a tough outing in Florida and was the big winner in the Junior A class.

Other standout performances by GBC riders included: Leroy Shook 2nd (Senior A), Terry Whiteside 2nd (4x4 Senior), Phil Cole 2nd (Vet B), Forrest Whorton 3rd (4x4 Senior), Todd Moskala 3rd (Vet B), Kevin McKeown 4th (College A), Nathan Hornacek 4th (Junior A), Arthur Blystone 4th (Senior A), Wayne Shay 4th (Sport), Chandler Burner 4th (16-18C), Kendall Tayler 5th (WXC), and Clint Graff 5th (College A)
