GBC Motorsports' Racers Podium at GNCC Racing Opener
Bryan Buchannon Second in GNCC 4x4 Pro Class

Anaheim, CA (3/13/2014) - Using the 4 month off-season to prepare and plan for success, the team of GBC Motorsports racers rolled into the opening round of the the 2014 Grand National Cross Country Series at the Mud Muckers off-road park in Bunnell, FL ready to show that hard work does pay off. The unusually wet winter months set the stage for a very challenging race course that was a true test of both rider and machine.

Among the top finishers for GBC Motorsports was Bryan Buchannon who finished second in the newly formed GNCC Racing 4x4 Pro Class using his GBC Dirt Commander Tires.

Jeff Pickens started things off right by putting his XC-Racer clad GT Thunder backed Yamaha up front off the start line, nearly grabbing the holeshot award. Kevin Yoho debuted his new #5 BNR backed machine and looked very strong in the early stages of the race before ultimately experienced a mechanical failure that prevented him from completing the race.

When the checkered flag flew it was veteran Johnny Gallagher leading the way for GBC with a 7th place finish. “It was brutal out there but my XC-Masters pulled me through all the holes and got me to the finish line for some valuable points to start off this new season,” Gallagher said afterwards. Jeff Pickens ended the day with in 9th place after pushing his bike nearly a half-mile to the finish line after overheating.

Thomas Koontz put in an excellent ride to secure 3rd place in the ultra competitive XC2 division, matching his podium performance from last year’s opening round. Newly signed GBC rider Marty Christofferson made his XC2 debut with an impressive 4th place finish.

Kevin McKeown grabbed the win in the College A class and Bo Jones topped the 4x4 A/B division aboard his GBC Dirt Commander equipped Polaris. Bryan Buckhannon, Jordan Phillips and Robert Smith secured three of the top five positions in the new 4x4 Pro class finishing 2nd, 4th and 5th respectively.

Other standout performances by GBC backed racers included: Forrest Whorton 2nd (4x4 Senior), Kara Merritt 2nd (WXC), Kendall Taylor 4th (WXC), Cam Bruce 4th (College A), Walt Schumacher 4th (Vet A), and Leroy Shook 4th (Senior A).

With just a short week to prepare the GBC racers will roll into Aonia MX park in Washington, GA this coming weekend March 15-16 for Round 2 of the GNCC Series.
