2007 AMA National Ice Racing Championships - Location
Change
Barnum Bay Marina in Nekoosa, Wisconsin
Appleton, WI (1/2/2007)
– Unseasonably warm weather is again blanketing
the upper Midwest. “If there was one thing we
learned from losing the National to poor weather conditions
in 2006, it was to have a good contingency plan in
place for the “2007 AMA National Ice Racing
Championships.” Ice conditions at Waverly Beach
in Menasha are simply non-existent and making an early
decision to move the National gives organizers plenty
of time to resolve logistic issues and give racers
time to plan ahead. The new location, Barnum Bay Marina
in Nekoosa, Wisconsin is ideal for race conditions.
For the overall event with the Powersports show tie-in,
Waverly Beach was the place to be; but with just racing
in mind, the new location in Nekoosa, Wisconsin has
everything needed to facilitate a first-class National
event. Only the location is changing, the scheduled
weekend remains the same, February 3-4, 2007.
The new site offers expansive on-shore
parking and ice that literally sits on the bottom
of the lake bed. There is a HUGE sandbar at this location.
This is the best possible situation to being on an
actual land based flooded track. “The Lure”
located at the Barnum Bay Marina is a top notch establishment
that provides participants and attendees a warm place
to eat, relax and refresh themselves over the two-day
National Event weekend on February 3-4, 2007. View

We’re actually excited about the
move – the Nekoosa location gives us a lot more
control over the racetrack area. Best of all, this
location has an impressive start on the ice needed
for the event. If racers haven’t made plans
yet, now is the time – pre-registration will
be available at www.FantasyMoto.com
starting January 3rd. Updated hotel and lodging information,
as well as directions, will be available on Wednesday,
January 3rd on the same site.
Our confidence level on pulling the
National together has skyrocketed after touring the
Nekoosa facility. This move provides us time to reorganize
our sponsorship opportunities – just today we
were able to put the finishing touches on a deal with
Janssen Motorsports that will allow us to offer a
“Quad Shootout” in addition to the typical
“Kold Kutter Shootouts” for the bike racers.
The “Janssen Motorsports Quad Shootout”
will feature a $1000 minimum cash purse for ATV racers.
Couple that with the $2500 “Kold Kutter Shootouts”
for bikes and we have a $3500 purse. But….it
gets even better – Action Awards in Appleton,
Wisconsin is adding another $1500 in cash to the overall
event purse that will get split proportionately between
the two “Kold Kutter Shootouts” for bikes
and the “Janssen Motorsports Quad Shootout”
for a total event purse of $5000!
