Andy Lagzdins |
Baltimore, MD (12/3/2008)-
Veteran GNCC Pro Rider and 2007 OMA Nationals
Champion Andy Lagzdins has signed on with Team
Christy’s/Duncan Racing to contest the
2009 Score Desert Series and the 2009 Best in
the Desert Series. Lagzdins had been initiated
into the world of desert racing earlier this
year by landing a ride with the Christy’s
team for the Vegas to Reno BITD event, where
he contributed to the team’s 3rd place
finish.
The Christy’s/Duncan team, lead by Burbank,
California’s Craig Christy, clinched the
2008 Score International 450 Pro Class 24 Championship
with a win at the Baja 1000 a few weeks ago.
Lagzdins teamed with fellow GNCC riders Tom
Wright and Jim Stack for the 1000, and led the
race before settling for 2nd place in Class
24 after losing their headlights late in the
race.
Lagzdins brings a wealth of racing experience
to the team, with over a decade of GNCC Pro
races under his belt, as well as numerous high
profile 12 hour endurance events in France,
Canada, and the U.S. “When I did the Vegas
race back in August, it was just for fun, really.
I had burned out on running the same National
series each year and I was just seeing what
else was out there,” said Lagzdins. “Everything
just clicked, and it couldn’t be a more
perfect match since we’re both backed
by Duncan Racing, Elka, and ITP on Honda 450R’s.”
Duncan Racing has been Andy’s main supporter
for years, and Leonard Duncan was instrumental
in both bringing Lagzdins to the West Coast
and also running the race program for Christy’s
Championship season. The team’s Duncan
Racing prepped Honda 450R’s are fitted
with Roll Design suspension components, Elka
shocks, ITP Holeshot tires, Douglas Wheels,
IMS Products, and PWR radiators. Lagzdins added,
“You’ll see me at some GNCC’s
and OMA’s next year, but my main goal
is to help bring home both desert championships
for the Christy’s team in 2009.”
