California (6/10/2009) - The
2009 edition of the Score Baja 500 saw Team Christy
take their second win of the season in dominating
fashion, besting the field in the 450 Pro class
and carding a fourth overall finish including
the open class machines.
The win extends the Baja victory streak for the
team to three, including last year's Baja 1000
and the 2009 San Felipe 250. The team's dedication
to logistics and preparation enabled the Craig
Christy-led squad of five riders to run a flawless
race, and their Duncan Racing prepared Honda TRX450R
withstood the brutal course with no mechanical
issues.
Pre race testing of the latest Elka Suspension
components proved a contributing factor to the
riders' performance, with the most current shock
configurations smoothing out the 500 miles of
rough desert terrain.

Craig Christy started the race in the infamous
Ensenada wash and handed the quad over to 2008
BITD overall champion Dave Scott, who methodically
stretched the lead to 6 minutes during his 130
mile section. Handing the quad over to GNCC cross-over
racer Andy Lagzdins on the Laguna Salada dry lake
bed, Moose Racing's Lagzdins set a blistering
pace through the Borrego whoops and amassed a
20+ minute lead by the time he reached Valle de
Trinidad.
Joe Bernal took over the reigns, and pushed
the ITP-Holeshot clad machine through the crossover
to the coast, maintaining the position and handing
the quad to Steve Abrego for the run up the coast.
Steve concentrated on running a fast and flawless
section, and used the excellent handling characteristics
of the Roll Design suspension arms to bring the
quad to Craig for the last run into Ensenada for
the finish.
With this second win of the season, the Christy's
team holds a perfect record for the Score Championship
points race going into the final event, the Baja
1000 in November.
