Can-Am / Dudding Racing's GNCC Round 7 ATV Race Report
GNCC Racing - Round 7- Mountain Ridge - Somerset, PA

Jerime Dudding Can-Am Renegade ATV Smith

Jerime Dudding had a big crash at Big Buck which had set his program back, but they are all working hard to get back on top

Somerset, PA (5/19/2009) -Over the last several rounds we have really been behind the eight ball with set up. The Big Buck Crash really took my program back a great deal this year. Simply because we custom built several parts on the quad, so it left us scrambling to get everything back in order and all the parts duplicated.

I have been racing a practice bike over the last three rounds which worked okay but just didn’t have the right combination of parts to make me comfortable. I managed a decent finish last race but decent finishes aren’t exactly acceptable.

Heading to Somerset on Friday morning I felt very confident in my equipment and that is something I haven’t really felt this whole year. I couldn’t wait to see what I could do. I have to say a huge thank you to Terry and the gang and Bopp Race Components for working so hard to make me happy and putting up with my never ending lists of things I want to try. They worked around the clock over this past week designing me a few GO FAST pieces I thought we were missing.

Basically we took a couple of new ideas and combined them with back to basic stock parts and it was the hot ticket. I think sometimes as racers we always assume the stock parts aren’t as good as aftermarket just because….. Well I can assure you that’s not the case with my Can-Am Renegade.

Once we arrived at Somerset and began walking the track it was obvious this was going to be a wide open sprint. I knew my 800R would be exactly what I needed for the fields and was looking forward to letting it rip.

As always I enjoy a good mud race but Friday night I was actually praying for rain simply to knock the dust down, I knew that would be a factor. Unfortunately the rains didn’t come for our race so I knew my only solution was to get to the front quick.

Jerime was able to get a great holeshot ahead of Cecco and Benson.

I came off the line with the holeshot and was very glad to get out in front of the dust. Soon it was Cecco, Benson, and I setting the pace on the first lap. Rick got around us and soon we were in a wave of dust that you just really had to hope for the best and hold the throttle down.

The good thing that almost immediately I realized the changes we had made in setup were awesome. I hadn’t felt this good on a quad since 2007. It was handling awesome. I knew if I could keep my head down and keep Benson in site we could go far. Benson and I past 2nd place back and forth a couple times before lap 1 was over.

I could tell Mr. Benson had plenty in the tank and was about to turn it up to WIDE OPEN, so I kept the hammer down and was really feeling great…..

Then things change my steering begin to feel loose and I thought I had a tie rod end coming loose. I kept pushing hoping it was my imagination, but it wasn’t the feeling kept getting worse I made it another mile or so then my wheel decided to just flop over. Once I looked at it I realized it was a broken spindle.

Major disappointment for the day but I still feel very confident in my setup gains. I am testing this Saturday and I will be racing in a new series here in Beckley, WV at Burning Rock Offroad Park on Sunday so all you racers come on down.

Thank you so much to all my sponsors that continue to be absolutely amazing. I appreciate your patience in switching to the new quad and working through some development.

One other note: A great friend of mine and guy who I have raced and road with since I started had some bad luck this weekend. Get well soon Bryan.
