Europe (7/7/2009) -Justin Reid
and Team Can-Am took the top step of the podium
at round three of the 2009 Ulster Premier Quadcross
Championship on Saturday the 4th of July, the
Comber rider putting in a fantastic display around
the challenging Moneyglass Grand Prix circuit
to move up three places to 6th in the series.
Promoted by the hard working team at the Seven
Towers Motorcycle Club at the venue of the 2007
FIM World Championship Grand Prix of Northern
Ireland, the spectacular one mile circuit nestled
in the three hundred and sixty-five acre Moneyglass
Demesne on the outskirts of Toomebridge provided
a fantastic setting and some dramatic racing for
the large crowd of spectators in attendance, Justin
delivering yet another excellent performance on
the Team Can-Am DS450 Xmx to take a 1-3 scorecard
and the overall win.

Race One
A testing combination of hardpack
and sand with some huge jumps and challenging
rhythm sections, the circuit was in prime condition
as the riders took to the line for timed qualification
despite heavy rain in the week prior to the meeting,
Justin quickly getting his machine dialled in
to the varied conditions and demands to post 3rd
fastest time and securing a good pick of gate.
Getting good drive off the line and rounding the
first corner in 5th, Justin quickly found his
rhythm and began to move through the pack, taking
two spots to complete the first of nine laps in
3rd. With the PEP suspension dialled in perfectly
to deal with the fast and furious circuit, Justin
easily negotiated many of the more challenging
jumps and combinations which his rivals would
not commit too and continued to progress towards
the front, taking 2nd on the following lap as
he set about reducing the large gap to the leader.
Maintaining his pace and gradually reducing the
deficit as the race progressed, Justin’s
relentless pursuit bore dividends at two-thirds
distance as he moved in to the lead, unchallenged
for the remainder of the moto as he cruised to
the chequered flag after almost thirty action
packed minutes for a fantastic race win.

Race Two
As the gates dropped for the final
twenty-minute plus two-lap moto, Justin got slightly
bogged down off the line and rounded the hairpin
first corner in 7th, as the twenty-four strong
field charged out for the first of nine laps.
Using the excellent handling of the Rotax powered
DS450 Xmx as he adapted to the much changed circuit
conditions on the opening lap, Justin increased
his pace and attacking the circuit began to blitz
his way through the field, moving up four places
for 3rd on the opening three laps. Resisting the
challenges for position over the next few laps
as he fought to reduce the gap to the leading
duo, Justin battled valiantly to close the gap
as he pulled a comfortable distance to 4th but
time was not on his hands, the multi British and
Ulster Champion wisely choosing to settle for
3rd and an outstanding overall win on the day.
Reid
‘This is an awesome track and the club have
done a great job to get us out on another GP circuit,
my only complaint would be that there are a couple
of jumps that are just too big to attempt and
as a result there are some really hard landings
out there… That said I seemed to be able
to get over most of the obstacles and had a lot
of fun, the DS450 Xmx is so stable in the air
I had no problem committing to some of the more
difficult doubles. I didn’t get away well
in the second moto and got badly held up for a
few laps so I decided to just hold position, as
I knew the overall was secure.’
