Can-am Outlander Max ATV Named Official Two-Up of Hatfield-Mccoy

Valcourt, Canada (3/20/2007) - BRP's Can-Am all-terrain vehicles are teaming up with the ultimate off-road trail system. West Virginia’s Hatfield-McCoy Trail System has named the Can-Am™ Outlander™ MAX ATV the official two-up of the Hatfield-McCoy trails.

The Hatfield-McCoy Trail System is one of North America’s premier off-road riding destinations, with more than 800 km (500 miles) of off-road trails in four counties. Each of its five trail systems are open to ATVs, dirt bikes, select utility vehicles (UTVs), mountain bikes, horses, and hikers.

Consumers purchasing a Can-Am ATV in West Virginia, Tennessee, Kentucky or Virginia during 2007 will receive a gift certificate good for a seven-day Hatfield-McCoy trails permit.

“We selected the Can-Am Outlander MAX because it is the ideal ATV for riding our trails,” said Hatfield-McCoy Executive Director, Jeffrey Lusk. “More and more people want to share the natural beauty and charm of southern West Virginia with a companion, and the two-rider-specific design of the Outlander MAX series is the best way to do it.”

BRP's Outlander MAX line of Can-Am ATVs was the first specifically designed for riding with a passenger. Thanks to a longer vehicle wheelbase, the passenger rides well in front of the rear axle for increased stability and handling. Moreover, seating putting the passenger above the driver, stadium-style, allows for a better view down the trail. A well-padded active backrest, raised footrests and multi-position handholds also ensure a comfortable ride, even on long trips. If needed, the passenger seat can be removed and replaced with a rack-extension/totable cargo box in just seconds, without tools.

The Outlander MAX models are available with 400, 500, 650 and 800cc Rotax® engines, as well as with the value-added XT package which includes steel bumpers, cast-aluminum rims, Carlisle ACT radial tires, hand guards and 1,134 kg -pound (2,500 pound) winch with a wired remote control.

“The Hatfield McCoy trails are just the kind of riding area for which we designed and equipped the Outlander MAX models,” said Yves Leduc, BRP’s vice-president and general manager Snowmobiles, Watercraft, ATVs and Sport Boats. “We hope that this recognition will bring more ATV riders to experience Can-Am ATVs and the Hatfield-McCoy trails.”
