Gardnerville, NV (12/7/05)
- With the rapid growth of the ATV market,
ATV Industry Magazine figured it was time for the
ATVs to finally have their own industry show, so in
2004, they made it a reality with the Suzuki sponsored
ATV Expo held in the Louisville, KY at the Kentucky
International Convention Center.
The show was setup as a dealer/consumer show with
a dealer only day followed by two day consumer show,
but unfortunately very few dealers actually attend
the show in 2004 and again in 2005. The consumer traffic
was busy both years, but it wasn’t enough to
keep the exhibitors coming back for another year,
ATV World's Fair Promoter and ATV Industry Magazine
Editor, Rick Campbell, said “Unfortunately we
have decided to discontinue producing the ATV World's
Fair. The 2005 event, last October, had half the number
of exhibitors that we had in 2004. It seems that the
exhibitors did not come back, as well as the original
equipment manufactures, like Honda, Kawasaki, Suzuki
and Yamaha.”
The ATV World’s Fair really needed a major
OEM sponsor, and Suzuki fulfilled that role in 2004,
but they dropped their sponsorship for 2005, which
left the huge financial burden of hosting the event
on the promoter, Campbell said “We are not a
large enough company to be able to absorb huge amounts
of losses, so I could not invite the risk of an even
smaller event in 2006. The truly unfortunate part
of it is that we had grand plans for expanding the
show, to include a sanctioned race, an Olympic-type
event, etc. in future years. Now there is no such
event and consumers and dealers will be left to a
few farm shows, etc.”
ATVriders.com applauds the efforts of Rick Campbell
and ATV Industry Magazine for hosting an ATV exclusive
show/expo, and the event will truly be missed by all
of those that have attended the past two years and
hopefully the show will be back again in the future
with the support of a major company or OEM.
