ATV Sport To Recognize Best Riders In Multiple ATV Racing Disciplines

Minneapolis, MN (10/4/2006) - In its eighth year of People’s Choice Awards, ATV Sport magazine has altered presentations to accommodate multiple racing disciplines and more deserving riders than ever. For the last seven years, ATV Sport has hosted the People’s Choice Awards at the season-ending GNC National Motocross Banquet featuring live voting.

For the first time, awards will be presented to motocross, flat track and cross-country riders as selected by their peers on www.atvsport.com. With a multitude of national race series and split banquets in the GNC circuit, it became more feasible to offer voting on the Web.

"We started the ATV Sport People's Choice Awards roughly seven years ago as a way to give back and acknowledge the ATV racing community and riders. We wanted to continue what Bryon Goggin started when he first created the GNC banquet and ‘eagle’ awards,” ATV Sport Editor Jerrod Kelley said. “We have altered the award voting process over the last few years and feel we must do so once again. To coincide with our upcoming magazine redesign for our Buyer’s Guide issue, we've decided to redesign our ATV Sport People's Choice Awards.”

Due to the number of postseason banquets and the need to remain both impartial and innovative with the awards, ATV Sport has decided to take them online to allow site visitors and magazine readers to vote. One of the changes will be adding other racing circuits (WPSA, GNCC, WORCS, Super Moto) and riders to the voting circle, as opposed to only having ATVA MX and EDT National riders included. In conjunction with the People's Choice Award, ATV Sport will have some other magazine awards it will announce in the coming months.

"We are excited we can continue to bring further recognition to the ATV racing industry and its dedicated riders with our awards,” Kelley said. “Riders will still receive trophies and be recognized both on the Web and within the magazine."

This year’s categories are as follows: Utility Quad Racer of the Year; Flat Track/Super Moto Pro Racer of the Year; Motocross Pro Racer of the Year; Cross-Country Pro Racer of the Year; Flat Track/Super Moto Amateur Racer of the Year; Motocross Amateur Racer of the Year; Cross-Country Amatuer Racer of the Year; EDT/Super Moto Youth Racer of the Year; Motocross Youth Racer of the Year; Cross Country Youth Racer of the Year.

Each category was narrowed down to 10 selections determined by the ATV Sport magazine staff.

To vote for the list of riders you deem most deserving visit www.ATVSport.com, click on “Vote Now” and make your voice be heard. You can only vote once, so make sure you have selected the most deserving riders.
