Pro Points Battle Heats Up With Natalie Jr & Byrd

Danville, VA – he fastest, highest-flying
four-wheeled ATV racers in America will make their return
to Virginia with the ATV MX Nationals at Birch Creek Motorsports
in Danville, VA on April 30.
Birch Creek Motorsports serves as round six of the
14-stop ATVA-sanctioned Moose/ITP National Motocross
Series – the largest ATV motocross series in the
world. The fastest pro racers riding on four-wheels
will compete along with amateurs of all ages in 31 different
classes. Racing takes place on the custom-built Birch
Creek track, which has received extensive upgrades with
the addition of hundreds of new level parking spots
along with numerous changes to its premier motocross
track. The track is now wider than ever and has several
option lanes to allow for more passing opportunities.
Also, several new big air jumps have been added to rival
its already legendary monstrous triple jump, which has
been a fan favorite.
The top factory teams will deploy their sponsored pro
racers at Birch Creek. Team Honda’s John Natalie
Jr,, from Pennsylvania, is the defending Pro National
Champion and currently tied for the points lead with
Honda Teammate “The Professor” Joe Byrd,
of Tennessee. They will face the potent Team Yoshimura/Suzuki
team of Wisconsin’s Doug Gust and Kentucky’s
Jeremiah Jones. Both will be competing on the all-new
Suzuki LTR450. A trio of factory Yamaha riders will
battle for the pro win as well: California’s Kory
Ellis, and New Jersey’s Pat Brown and Travis Spader,
a former champion who made a rapid comeback in 2005.
The 2006 ATVA MX National Series kicked off in California,
February 5th. After visiting Texas and Florida, the
series heads north to Virginia, wraps its way around
the Eastern U.S., and finally concludes in Kentucky
on September 3rd.
To kick off the weekend’s festivities, Triangle
Cycle in Danville, VA is hosting an open house on Thursday,
April 27th from 3-7 PM with Pro Riders, John Natalie
Jr, Michelle Reiser, Doug Gust, and Jeremiah Jones attending
to sign autographs. Also, Country Music Station, 103.3
WAKG will be broadcasting live from the event and giving
away FREE tickets to the ATV MX Nationals along with
many other prizes, and with food and discounts, you
won’t want to miss out on this evening of fun.
Riders will practice on Friday, April 28, and amateurs
will race on Saturday and Sunday, April 29-30. The pro
racers practice on Saturday. Pro racing begins at noon
on Sunday, April 30.
Spectator passes for adults run $35 for Friday through
Sunday, $30 for Saturday through Sunday, and $15 for
Sunday only. Children 6 – 12 cost $25 for Friday
through Sunday, $20 for Saturday through Sunday, and
$10 for Sunday only. Children under six are free. Local
riders are invited to race the event, as the ATV Nationals
offer classes for riders of all skill and experience
levels. Riders can sign up at the track. The amateur
racer entry fee is $40.
To get to the track, From South US Rt 29 or West US
Rt 58, follow 29/58 Bypass East around Danville. Exit
at Rt 58 East and go to 2nd traffic light and turn North
(left) on Rt 729/Kentuck Road. From US Rt 29 North,
take business Rt 29 exit to first traffic light. Turn
East (left) on State Rt. 726. Go 2 miles to Rt 716 and
turn right. Go 4 miles to Rt 360, turn right and then
4 miles to Rt 729/Kentuck Rd and turn left. The track
is one mile on the left. From East on US Rt 58/360,
approximately one mile after entering Danville city
limits, turn North (right) at first traffic light Rt
58/729 intersection, Rt 729/Kentuck Rd. For more information

The ITP/Moose ATVA National Motocross
Championships, presented by Parts Unlimited, is the
nation’s premiere ATV motocross racing series.
The 14-round series is produced by members of the ATVA
Promoters’ Group, LLC (“ATVAPG”) and
is sanctioned by the 9,000 member ATV Association (“ATVA”),
the sister organization to the 260,000 member American
Motorcyclist Association (“AMA”). ATV racing
has experienced phenomenal growth at the rate of 25%
in the past two years alone, and continues to gain momentum
and support, as ATV outsell off-road motorcycles annually
3 to 1. Each round attracts 600-1000 racers who vie
for bragging rights to one of 31 national titles. ATVA
