Team Motorsport / Honda's Tim Farr Wins the
2006 Extreme Dirt Track Championship |
Paducah, KY (10/9/2006) - Paducah International
Raceway hosted the ATVA Extreme Dirt Track season
finale this past weekend. The race was rescheduled
due to heavy rain and flooding two weeks ago.
The reigning Champion, Tim Farr, went into the
final round with a 27 point lead over Honda’s
Keith Little. The point differential between first
and last place in an event is thirty points.
The Pro Show began on Saturday evening on Paducah’s
high speed track. Team Motosport/Honda’s Farr
grabbed the holeshot in the first heat race and looked
dominate as he took the win over Honda’s Harold
Goodman. Little won the second Pro heat race of the
night to set the stage for the battle to come. Tensions
were high as the riders lined up for the last race
of the season. Farr needed only a respectable finish
to secure the Championship and Little needed Farr
to have some bad luck. Goodman sat back quietly and
wanted to steal the show. When the light turned green,
Goodman grabbed the early lead over Farr, but Farr
charged hard out of the sweeper to challenge Goodman.
Goodman managed to hang on to a slight edge over Farr
into the first corner. Little got a poor start and
found himself mid-pack. Goodman and Farr quickly ran
away from the field. The crowd enjoyed the battle
between the two Honda riders. On lap five, Farr came
to an instant stop after launching over the infield
jump. It was soon obvious that he had a problem with
his rear shock. A disappointed Farr had to roll around
the track on his low rider for the remainder of the
race. Meanwhile, Little tried to make the most of
the situation and charged up to second position. Goodman
held on to the lead and took home his first win of
the season. Little finished second and Frank Batista
earned third, his career best finish. Goodman won
the battle, but Farr won the war. Farr’s fifteenth
place finish was enough for him to secure his eleventh
Pro ATV Championship.
“Obviously, I am disappointed with tonight.
Our setup was perfect and I felt like we could have
taken home the win. But the most important thing is
the Championship. I am extremely happy for our Motosport/Honda
team and would like to thank all of my sponsors for
getting us here tonight”, said Farr following
the race.
