Johnny
from Motoworks celebrates with the racers
on the Pro Am Unlimited podium |
Perry, FL (5/7/2009) -At the
beginning of the 09 season there was much speculation
on how the ATP team was going to turn out. How
were these riders really going to do on the ATP/Motoworks/Rath
Suzuki's? Were they that good? Then came Pell
City and Birch Creek. Was it just luck? After
Sunset Ridge there cannot possibly be any doubt
about the talent of these riders and the companies
supporting them.
Saturday began with Devin and Josh both coming
around the corner in 1st for
both the qualifying heats of Pro-Am Unlimited
while Josh went on to win heat 1 and Devin coming
in 2nd for heat 2. The second moto started out
with Devin Heimes pulling yet another holeshot
and going on to take the overall win with Josh
Williams coming in 2nd on the podium on their
ATP/Motoworks/Rath racing Suzuki's. This podium
finish was 2 in a row for this formidable pro-am
duo!

Sunday's Pro Am Production race ended with another
double podium for ATP
sponsored racers with Media All-stars Cody Grant
in the 2nd spot and Josh Williams in the 3rd
spot. Moto 1 started with Devin Heimes making
a strong run for majority of the moto in the
2nd place position but was cut short by a fluke
part failure which put him in 17th. Cody Grant
was hot on his tail and ready to take over the
2nd place position. With a top 5 starting position
Josh Williams ran a strong race to finish 4th
for moto1. The 2nd moto of the day finished
with near identical finishes for the ATP sponsored
racers with Cody Grant finishing 2nd and Williams
finishing 3rd after a heated battle for position.
Devin Heimes finished the moto with a 7th putting
him in 12th for the overall, while Grant and
Williams went on to the podium.
Neal McGrath won his 450A qualifier on Saturday
and came back on Sunday with a 3rd place, putting
him on the podium in 3rd. After being hit by
a rogue airborne quad in Production A on Saturday
Neal finished 10th on Saturday and 15th on Sunday
for 17th overall.
Jeffery Rastrelli won both motos in his final
race in the School Boy Sr class on his ATP/Walsh
LTZ400 at Sunset Ridge. He is eagerly awaiting
Steel City where he will make his 450cc national
debut in Production A and Pro-Am Unlimited.
All of his teammates and sponsors want to wish
him a very happy 16th birthday!
Team ATP would like
thank all of their sponsors for a great start
