Anthony Mastrocola Seriously Injured at Steel City Raceway

#17 Anthony Mastrocola
Pittsburg, PA (6/20/06) –Anthony Mastrocola was having an incredible weekend of racing with two wins on Saturday in the Production C & 265C, but disaster struck on Sunday during his Production C race when his ATV nose dived over a jump slamming Anthony into the ground. As a result of the impact, Anthony crushed his T4 & T5 vertebrate located in the middle of the back, which left him without any feeling below his chest. He was air lifted to UMPC Presbyterian Hospital in Pittsburg, PA where he remains in the ICU.

Anthony has since undergone surgery to fuse his T3 through T8 vertebrate in his back, and he still is unable to feel his legs, but he remains in good spirits despite the seriousness of his injury and long road ahead to recovery.

Anthony hails from Altoona, Pennsylvania where he will enter his senior year at Altoona area high school this fall. This spring and summer Anthony has been working at Cernics to help buildup his new Suzuki LTR450 for the 2006 season. He had already equipped his quad with Rath Racing products, Yoshimura exhaust, Hiper Wheels, Flexx handlebars, Rath Racing, Fox Float Shoxs and much more, and he dreamed of becoming a Pro rider one day.

From the age of 7, Anthony has been riding and improving his skills. Aside from ATV racing, Anthony also enjoys jamming to his own written music on his electric guitar. Living by his motto “Live fast or die slow” he will never be slowed down in his pursuit to his dreams.

As of now, it appears that Anthony will never be able to ride an ATV again or possibly even walk. Regardless, he vows to stay connected to the sport and support all his friends at the races, and he needs our prayers now more than ever as Mastrocola family has put their faith in the Lord.

For those interested in sending cards or gifts, I have provided the address to the Hospital.
