Delmont, PA (8/28/2008) -
The name "Jimmy White" has always
been synonymous with the early days of ATV
racing. That name will be in the spotlight
again on Saturday as White will go back
to his days in the saddle, riding a three-wheeled
Kawasaki Tecate 250 during the ATV Open
Saturday at Steel City Raceway.
The event, scheduled for Saturday, will
showcase the talent White honed in the Mickey
Thompson Stadium Series, in which he won
the title in 1983, 1986, and 1989. White
is now the team manager for Team Monster
Energy Kawasaki, which has three riders
competing in the invitation-only ATV Open:
Josh Creamer, Keith Little and Russell Shumaker.
"I'm scared out of my mind,"
said White with his characteristic dry humor.
"I haven't ridden a three-wheeler in
100 years! My riders will be laughing at
me because most of them weren't alive when
I raced three-wheelers. Seriously, though,
this is such a cool opportunity to go out
in front of the crowd. There are always
some guys in the crowd that raced three-wheelers
and I'm sure they'll get a kick of it. It's
an honor to do this in front of the ATV
crowd, and the two-wheeled crowd, as well."
The Second Annual Steel City AMA Pro ATV
Open will feature Pro racing on Saturday,
Aug. 30 and a full card of Amateur racing
on Sunday, Aug. 31. Tickets start at just
$30 for adults and $15 for children 6-11.
Children 5 and under receive free admission.
