Racers Fun in the Summer

Adam McGill’s summer may have been the most life changing of all the top guys. He started out like a typical racer, working on quads and racing locals. He then put on his teaching glasses and held a riding school at his home in West Union, West Virginia. Fifteen riders attended the two-day school where McGill focused on everything from holeshots, to turns, to how to look cool while riding around the pits.

The week after the schooling session is when McGill’s summer took a life changing turn. The 25 year old took his girlfriend of two years, Hayley Henthorn, south of the boarder for a mid-summer vacation. What Hayley thought just to be an amazing trip to an all-inclusive resort turned out to be the beginning of the rest of their lives…

“I knew I had to do it on the first night, so I took her down to the beach. We talked for a while, I asked her a bunch of questions and all of her answers were yes. I got down on one knee, pulled out the ring and asked her to marry me. She looked at me and said, ‘Are you freaking kidding me?!’ I told her I was serious and after a few more are you kidding me’s she said, ‘Yes, DUHH!’ That moment was the beginning of the rest of our lives and I couldn’t be happier,” explained McGill of his marriage proposal.
As the summer wraps up the #521 has quite a few things to focus on, planning a wedding, buying a house and the final four rounds of GNCC racing. McGill hopes to earn another win before the season wraps and keep his Honda up front with consistent finishes.
BNR backed Kevin Yoho spent many summer hours earning his pay check; he’s a heavy equipment operator in Ohio. He claimed that although work was a priority, he found some time to goof off and enjoy the summer with the Big Nutz crew.

“Krazy K” headed to Pittsburgh a few times to see the sights and visit Kennywood. He also made two trips to concerts to see Kill Switch Engage and Luke Bryan. Despite being so busy working, he said he and the BNR guys also spent a lot of time in the quad shop and racing locals.

“This was a pretty good summer. I am working now to prep everything for Unadilla. I really want to stay in the top five and earn that #5 plate for 2014,” said Yoho.
As summer winds to a close and the green flag prepares to drop at Unadilla, we’ll see if all the jet skiing, farming, vacations and concerts paid off for our favorite racers. And if it doesn’t, well I can imagine that next summer may go down a little differently…
