AMA ATV MX Champion John Natalie & Pro
Womens racer, Michelle Natalie were also
on hand for the 2010 Dream Camp as instructors
as well |
A big addition to this year was John and Michelle
Natalie who would be on hand as the four trainers
set out to work hard to share their knowledge.
Breezewood Proving Grounds(www.breezewoodprovinggrounds.com)
is the east coast's premier MX facility located
just outside Breezewood, PA and would serve host
to this increasingly popular event. Over 35 riders
entered the camp and for four days would be in
for some intense training in all aspects of riding
on a Motocross track. Ages ranged widely, from
6 to 18 and the trainers would indeed have their
hands full. The varying degree of skill level
would also throw the Pro's a curveball but would
be handled with the professionalism they are each
known for.

John
Natalie trains with not only the older,
more skilled campers but with the youth
riders as well, whether they are just starting
out or already have a few races under their
belt - every rider can see benefits from
professional training
|
The facility is ideal for such a camp as riders
were grouped into cabins that at times sounded
more like summer camp then a training class. With
the bunkhouses in order, the riders would also
be treated to an incredible amount of food as
three solid meals a day awaited them along with
refreshments served trackside by an ever attentive
staff that was eager to make sure everyone had
everything they needed. Staff was also on hand
to help with any mechanical issues that might
arise and in some cases, personal quads were loaned
so that a rider could continue on with the days
training. Being looked after was never in question,
its something visitors to the Proving Grounds
have grown to expect.
The training would begin almost immediately as
the riders were broken down into different groups.
Sorting out the skill level was handled early
on by timed laps on day 1. Dustin Wimmer and Dunk
already had a handle on what they wanted to accomplish
and quickly set in instructing their group. While
Wimmer is quiet by nature, his direction to riders
is to the point and is usually followed easily.

#1
Suzuki's Dustin Wimmer & #19 Yamaha's
Jason Dunkelberger were right there beside
the riders teaching them, & showing
them what they wanted to get done in any,
one particular lesson
|
He doesn't mind getting hands on and either showing
what he wants done or by moving a rider around
to show the body position he is looking for. Carrying
the number one plate had more then one wide eyed
rider gazing up at him and smiling the entire
time. Getting past the fact that Dustin Wimmer
is teaching you took a few hours to soak in! Dunk
is not as quiet as Wimmer and you can expect to
find him within inches of your quad at times shouting
support. The pair worked well together and the
riders were responding to their instruction.
