Palmer, Alaska (11/25/2014) – At ATVriders.com, we like to share our experiences and adventures and showcase some of the best travel destinations for outdoor recreation and vacations. We recently had the opportunity to visit the beautiful state of Alaska, which included some of the most breath taking scenery we have ever seen.
In order to get the full spectrum of what Alaska is about, we went on a series of tours and adventures to different parts of the state. One of those areas was Palmer, Alaska where we met up with Alaska Backcountry Adventure Tours.

headed to Palmer, Alaska the first week
of October just in time for the peak fall
colors. This beautiful SxS / ATV trail ride
location is only an hour north of the big
city of Anchorage, which makes it very accessible
for those looking for a little offroad adventure
during their trip to Alaska |
Alaska Backcountry Adventure Tours run multiple
types of tours including full day, half day and
customized tours, salmon fishing and bear watching
tours, and rafting excursions in the summer as
well as snowmobile tours in the winter. In 2000,
Craig Saunders decided he wanted to spend more
time in the great outdoors and decided what better
way to do that than to open his own adventure
tour business.

our adventure ride, we went with Alaska

“A lot of my friends advised against it saying that something I love so much could turn into something I hate, but we have been in business now for almost 15 years. To take people out there, put a smile on their faces and show them the beautiful back country of Alaska is a very rewarding experience,” said Saunders, who claims that in that time, they have put enough miles on their ATV’s to circle earth 7.6 times.

Craig
Saunders and his ATV & SxS tour guides
have put in enough off-road miles to circle
the Earth 7.6 times, and they have had the
best success with Honda, so they have a
full fleet of Honda vehicles for the tours
from the Rancher, Foreman, Rincon, and the
new Honda
Pioneer 4 700 SxS, so for our tour we
took out the Honda Rincon & Pioneer
4 700 |
Besides offering day trips, Alaska Backcountry Adventure Tours also offer sight-seeing trips, rafting and over night excursions where you have the option of camping out in a tent or at a remote cabin. “For our overnight adventures we provide everything you need, including tents, sleeping pads, sleeping bags and three square meals that offers some of the best in Alaska campfire cuisine,” stated Saunders.

While business has typically been best in the summer months, Saunders states that winter tours have been on the rise and are now as popular as summer trips. “We especially get a lot of business during the Iditarod races. We have three tour guides for our summer tours and now we have three for winter as well,” Saunders stated.
