Bakersfield, CA (10/27/2016)
- H&M Motorsports’ David Haagsma won the
season finale WORCS Off Road Series Pro SXS
race, and in the process, clinched the championship.
Haagsma won one of the most competitive points
chases in WORCS history where six drivers
came into the final event with a legitimate
shot at the title.

Maxxis' David Haagsma clinched
the WORCS Pro SXS Championship with
the win at the season finale |
Haagsma, who was running full time in the
AMA ATV National Championship this season
along with the WORCS Pro SXS class, dominated
the race from start to finish. He earned his
third victory of the season and nabbed the
championship by one point.
“We came into this race two points behind
Mickey Thomas and we knew it was going to
come to him and I battling for the lead,”
said Haagsma. “He’s an amazing driver. We’ve
had battles all year. He’s had some issues
and I’ve had some issues. So to win by one
point is amazing.”
With the title on the line, Haagsma’s machine
was the quickest off the line. He was just
about untouchable during the race.

lead from start to finish |
“I have to thank Sparks and Maxxis Tires,”
said Haagsma. “The car just hooked up right
at the start. I knew I had a good chance.
I just watched my pace and tried not to break
the car. I was definitely watching Mickey.
I made sure I had a comfortable gap so as
long as I didn’t make a mistake I’d get the
win.”
Haagsma adds another title to his impressive
resume, which includes titles in both WORCS
ATVs and the SXS development classes. He said
he is going to focus on the ATV National Championship
in 2017 and may only run select WORCS races.

David Haagsma held the early lead in
the Pro ATV class until a mechanical
issue took him out of the race |
“We’ve had a lot of success during my WORCS
career,” said Haagsma. “This will probably
be my last year racing the RZR. I’m going
to focus on racing ATVs back east. I’ve had
a lot of luck in Pro Am, and Pro in ATVs and
all of the lower classes in SXS racing, so
to get this one makes me very happy. I just
want to do one 100% back east and see how
things work out.”
Haagsma will compete in the full AMA ATV
Motocross National Championship next season
as he chases after the number one plate in
pro motocross.
