Can-Am’s Cody Miller Takes Heartland Challenge UTV Overall Win
Hunter Miller Finishes Fourth Overall, Cody Miller Takes 2nd Place in 4x4 Pro Race

Greenville, TX (8/23/2016) -  Can-Am’s Cody Miller competed in the Heartland Challenge in Carlisle, IA, winning the UTV 1000 race and finishing second in the Team 4X4 Pro ATV race. Hunter Miller led several laps in the UTV race, before finishing fourth overall.

With thunderstorms in the area, the organizers pushed up the start time by two hours, and ended the race just short of the four-hour mark due to lightning in the area. Cody Miller spent most of the early stages of the race battling power steering issues. Once solved, Miller went on a tear, and came out atop a thrilling four-car five-lap battle to take the victory.

“I think I found the best lines without power steering,” joked Miller. “My Can-Am Maverick Turbo was running strong and my Maxxis Tires were hooking up. We finally caught the leaders. After five laps of hard battling, I came out in the lead on the last lap. The car held up great. I clipped a couple of trees out there that would have ripped the front off of any other car, but with the Houser Products, Elka Shocks, DWT Wheels and Maxxis Tires, it really held up. I can’t say enough about Can-Am. They put out a great product. This is my third time coming out to the Heartland Challenge and we were finally able to pull it off.”

Hunter Miller reeled in the leader early in the race and led for much of the middle stages of the event. Unfortunately, running in two-wheel drive at the end slowed his charge.

“It was going great for most of the race,” said Miller. “I led until the three-hour mark. I had broken a front axle at around two hours and was running in two-wheel drive. I was getting it done, but I came up on a bottleneck and got high centered. I came back up to fourth, and then I got stuck again. It was all good, considering. This is the best I’ve ever done here and this is the toughest race we do all year, so to nearly finish on the podium is pretty solid.”

In the ATV Pro 4X4 race, Cody Miller, teamed up with Rick Cecco and Bryan Buckhannon, was leading the event when a slipping drive belt knocked him out of the lead. His team held on to record the runner-up finish.

“We had just one mechanical issue all day and it ended up costing us,” said Miller. “It took us from the lead to down by a couple of minutes. I can’t complain because I won last night and finished second tonight. Bryan Buckhannon and Rick Cecco ran strong and we had a great weekend.

“The Heartland Challenge is one of the most fun races we go to,” added Miller. “Can-Am gave us a great machine. Our machine ran strong the whole time. Mechanical issues happen, but to just have one is a statement to how great our equipment is. Just to be on the podium is a feat considering how hard charging everyone is here.”
