La Crosse, WI (7/2/2015) - Root River Racing returned to its home track over the weekend for the Mt. The win at Spring Creek MX Park in Millville, MN puts Manshack just one moto win away from her second national championship.

ITP's #1 Megan Manshack claimed yet another 1-1 overall win at Spring Creek MX

“I’ve been racing every weekend since March, but I wouldn’t have it any other way,” said Manshack who held off a charging Aubre King in both motos to net the overall victory. ”Aubre and I had a great battle. She was nipping at my heels the whole time and that’s always fun. She’s a great racer. It was super rough, but that’s what makes it challenging and fun.

“I think I’ve won every moto this year,” added Manshack. “It feels good to be that consistent. All of the families of the Root River racers were here this weekend. It felt really good to have such a large cheering section.”

Haedyn Mickelson padded his points lead in 450 A with an overall second-place finish on the merit of 3-2 finish in the motos: “I got a decent start in the first moto, but I got knocked off the track a couple of times in traffic,” said Mickelson, who also finished fourth in Production A. “I worked my way up to third. I was battling for second, but the checkered flag came out too soon. In the second moto, I took second at the start and stayed consistent, finishing second. The Root River Honda pulled out great at the start. The ITP Tires worked great at the start and the Motowoz shocks worked great over the whoops sections.”

Sam Rowe put on a show in Pro Am, rebounding from a seventh-place finish in the first moto to win the second moto and take third overall. Rowe also finished third in Pro Sport. “We made of bunch of changes going into this weekend; we took the big tires off and made some shock changes,” said Rowe. “The bike rocketed off the start in the second moto. I was a little nervous, but we ripped the holeshot. I looked back after the first lap. I just kind of put it on cruise control from there. I spun off the gate and got a terrible start in the first moto. It was brutal out there, but we turned it around for the second moto. I’m stoked. I was so disappointed after the first moto, so to come out here and win the second moto was great.”

Alex Gillette had a difficult time here, finishing 15th in both 450 B and Production B. “I didn’t do as well as I wanted to, but the team was great,” said Gillette. “The track was really rough and with the rain. I never really got a good moto in. I just tried my best and we hope to come out stronger in the next round.”

Johannah Vossman sat out the Millville round with a collarbone injury: “I was at the Mickelson’s last weekend,” said Vossman. “I was practicing there, cased a jump and went over the bars. I reinjured my collarbone and have to go back in for surgery. I might be able to come out, but most likely my season is over.” Noah Mickelson ran some laps during press day, but sat out to heal his leg injury.

Root River youth racer Brandon O’Neill finished second in both Open Sr. and 90 Shifter, as well as earning a seventh-place spot in Super Mini. “The weekend went well,” said O’Neil, who sits second in both Open Sr. and 90 Shifter points. “The two second-place finishes were nice. They keep us in the points. We’re going for the championship so the weekend was great.”

Dalton Hicks finished fourth in 450 A, and fifth in Production A. Dylan Tremellen notched fifth-place finishes in both Pro Am and Pro Sport.

The Root River riders visited the Mayo Clinic and Ronald McDonald House in Rochester, MN the Thursday before the race. Team members signed posters and spent time with critically ill children. Team owner Rich Gillette said it was a rewarding experience: “The visits were awesome. All of our Pros absolutely love doing this and they wish they could have someone organize something like this every race weekend. We loved being able to put some smiles on the faces of children who don’t get to smile very much.”

Root River Racing next heads east to New Berlin, NY for Round 8 of the Mt. Dew AMA ATV Motocross National Championship at Unadilla MX. That race is scheduled for July 11-12th.
