Root River Racing's Josh Upperman grabbed the SSi Decals Moto One Holeshot Award

“I grabbed the holeshot and led half a lap in the first moto,” said Upperman. “ I pushed myself and finished fourth. In the second moto, I missed a gear at the start and that screwed me up. I ended up mid-pack. I made a couple of passes at the beginning, but I got in a rut in the middle of the race and finished eighth.”

Though Upperman said Unadilla’s horsepower-oriented layout suited his riding style, it made it hard to move through the field. “The track was so fast all weekend, and it was really hard to make passes,” said Upperman. “I tried to make a couple of moves, but I just couldn’t make it happen.”

Upperman is hungry to crack into the top three in the final two races, especially the next round at RedBud MX. “All in all, it was a good weekend, but we’re definitely not happy with the results,” said Upperman. “I’m going to be working my butt off for the next two races. RedBud is one of my favorite tracks. I’m ready to put on a good show and get back on the podium.”

Upperman and his Root River team look to finish out the 2015 ATV racing season strong. They return to Mt. Dew AMA ATV Motocross competition July 25-26 at RedBud MX in Buchanan, MI.
