East Springfield, PA (6/16/2015)
- JB Racing/ Liquid Wrench/ Root River Racing’s
Jeffrey Rastrelli finished fifth overall at the
sixth round of the Mt. Dew AMA ATV Motocross National
Championship series in Walnut, IL.
Rastrelli made his appearance at Sunset Ridge
MX with an injured shoulder from a crash at round
five, which left him with a stage 2 AC separation.
“I didn’t even know if I was going to be able
to ride. The doctor told me two weeks was the
earliest I would physically be able to use it,”
said Rastrelli. Despite the circumstances, Rastrelli
dug deep, fought through the pain, and landed
an impressive fifth place overall finish.

Sunset Ridge MX’s sandy soil is known for becoming
rough, testing the rider’s endurance. On top of
this, hot and humid temperatures plagued the area
for the first moto. Rastrelli would be at a disadvantage
with his weak shoulder and no seat time since
the last round, but he hardly let it show. At
one point Rastrelli even ran in fourth place.
“I got a decent start, and made a few good passes
in the beginning of the moto. I actually felt
pretty good,” said Rastrelli.
The end of the moto would ultimately come down
to the conditioning of the shoulder, “Not using
it for two weeks, I lost a lot of strength. Overall,
it was a pretty good moto, considering,” said
Rastrelli about his seventh place moto one finish.
Rastrelli had even more in the tank when moto
two came around. He would improve upon his moto
one finish by two positions, which landed him
in fifth place. The skies opened up and saturated
the racetrack before the start of the second moto,
throwing another challenge to Rastrelli and the
other racers. The deteriorating track conditions
were no match for Rastrelli’s JB Racing/ BCS Can-Am,
and superior mud race setup. “The PEP shocks and
ITP tires hooked up great. We ran the mud tires
the second moto, and I almost grabbed the holeshot,”
said Rastrelli, who came out of the gate in second
place.

Rastrelli gives his great setup and his team
credit for his spectacular finish, saying “For
me to be able to come off a shoulder separation
and ride, it must be working pretty good.”
Rastrelli was in seventh place in the Mt. Dew
AMA ATV Motocross National Championship series
points, but after his remarkable performance at
Sunset Ridge MX, he is now tied for fifth place.
Round seven of the Mt. Dew AMA ATV Motocross
Championship heads to Spring Creek MX in Millville,
MN on June 27th. JB Racing/ Liquid Wrench/ RRR’s
Jeffrey Rastrelli will return healthier and stronger,
fighting for a podium position.
