Kaska, PA (10/9/2015) - ATVriders.com
/ Jarrod McClure Racing’s (JMR) rider Jarrod McClure
found himself on the podium once again at round
eleven of the Grand National Cross Country Series
(GNCC) in Somerset, PA. Jarrod secured third overall
for the day at the Mountain Ridge ATV facility despite
muddy track conditions and cold temperatures. JMR
teammate XC2 Pro Am rider Randy Hamilton rounded
out the top five in his class after a long battle
from the back of the pack finishing fifth for the
day.

The Mountain Ridge ATV Park is a well-known venue
in western Pennsylvania that hosts multiple ride
events throughout the year and offers many miles
of trail for its guests. Its no surprise the GNCC
series returned here in 2015, the facility offers
plenty of property and is well known for its rocky,
Pennsylvanian terrain. The weather for the day
was downright miserable with temperatures in the
low 40s, a strong wind, and on and off rain all
day long. The weather combined with the track
made for an exciting day.
McClure started his day in the middle of the
eleven-rider pack going into the woods in the
seventh position. The course was holding up very
well despite the rain it had received. Jarrod
was not able to make up much ground on the first
two laps as he learned the course and battled
back and forth with riders.
“This track is one of my least favorite, its
so hard to pass in the fields here because of
how fast it is, and then the woods are mostly
rock gardens so you really have to beat up your
machine to get anywhere. I was hoping for a better
start because I knew it would be tough to work
my way through people,” said McClure.

As the riders went onto lap three everyone began
to pit, McClure sitting in sixth at the time,
made a decision to not stop for fuel that lap
passing three riders in the pits, which bumped
him right into third. This move allowed Jarrod
to gap the riders he had been battling with enough
that he never felt pressure from them again. When
the checker flag fell Jarrod held onto his third
overall position for the day.
“I was locked in a four rider battle out there
for third overall, and it really was a dog fight
between Neal, Shadron, Wolfe, and myself. I knew
I had to try and get away from all them guys,
so I made the call myself on the third lap to
not stop in the pits. It was not planned and my
crew was a little upset about it thinking I would
run out of gas, but I was paying attention to
the race timer and knew I could go another lap
thanks to this IMS tank. It put me where I needed
and I never looked back,” said McClure.
JMR’s XC2 Pro Am racer Randy Hamilton began outside
the top ten in his class struggling to get his
machine started. Randy worked his way up into
fifth by lap two, but the leaders in the class
had already pulled a gap. Hamilton made up time
every lap, but could not gain any positions as
the race came to an end.
