Odessa, NY (5/14/2015) - ATVriders.com / Jarrod McClure Racing’s (JMR) rider Jarrod McClure found himself on the final spot of the podium once again at round six of the Grand National Cross Country series this past weekend in Odessa, NY finishing third overall for the day. McClure overcame a mid pack start and the super dusty conditions, but when the dust settled Jarrod had earned his third consecutive podium, which has him sitting comfortably in third overall in the championship points race. JMR teammate XC2 Pro Am racer Randy Hamilton would also find himself atop the podium securing the second place position for the day after pulling the class holeshot and leading the first few laps.

The Tomahawk GNCC course is an all-new venue this year for 2015, so racers were excited to tackle some fresh terrain. The Western New York Off-road Association (WNYOA) has used this facility, also known Seneca Highlands, for sometime now as a common stop on their racing circuit. With that being said, the property is not virgin to off-road racing and has its fair share of beat in trails. The track would offer rolling hills, fast flowing woods sections that had many exposed roots, and plenty of field sections to add excitement. The weather was hot and with no rain in the area for sometime now the track would be super dusty, so a good start would be beneficial to racers.

DWT’s McClure knew how crucial a start would be for todays race and he pulled an average one rounding the first corner mid-pack and going into the woods somewhere around seventh. Jarrod quickly set his sights on Brian Wolf and Kevin Yoho as he learned the course. He was able to hop a log past Wolf and not soon after that get around Yoho to check in the first lap in fifth. Early on in lap two McClure battled with Brycen Neal and edged him out in the one field section, moving up into the fourth position. From there Jarrod was able to catch Chris Borich and ride with him most of the race.

“The start was so dusty, a holeshot would have been nice to have a clear track, but once we were in the woods the conditions were near perfect. I think I was somewhere around seventh on the first lap but I had a string of riders in front of me so I knew I had my work cut out for me. I got my program really dialed in the past few weeks and am feeling real good out there. I had a lot of fun passing those guys, it’s always cool when everything is working well and you are comfortable. I knew once I caught Borich I was near the podium and I knew Fowler was behind us yet, ” said McClure.

McClure rode with Chris Borich a majority of the race, until lap four where he applied some pressure and was able to get by and make the charge to catch Chris Bithell and Adam McGill.  Jarrod did just that getting around Bithell and on the final lap closing in on McGill. Once on McGill, Borich had caught the duo of Honda riders and it began an all out battle for the final two positions on the podium. The riders hit the final field sections three wide and were banging tires, but as the dust settled it appeared McClure would come in third twelve second behind McGill.

“Today was awesome out there I was always riding with someone. The last lap was real intense. I caught Adam but ended up flipping over a berm, which allowed Chris to catch me. Chris and I were able to catch back up to Adam just before the fields and have a fun battle in the dust to the end.  I can’t say enough about how well this JMR Honda is working, I am excited to be holding third in the points and feeling strong,” said McClure.

JMR’s XC2 Pro Am racer Randy Hamilton began his day pulling the holeshot and leading the first few laps holding off Cole Richardson. Randy stayed in podium contention all day never dropping further back then third. On the final lap Hamilton moved up into second where he would cross the finish for the day marking his best finish of the season.
