The duo were unstoppable in the ATV race,
with Baron finishing first with a sweep of
both moto wins and Haagsma netting second
to pad his points lead. “My Maxxis Tires helped
me get off the line really well today,” said
Baron. “I got a good jump, rode smart, tried
to make it difficult to pass, and I pulled
it off. David was pushing really hard in the
second moto, but he made a mistake and it
pretty much cost him the race. The Elka shocks
were dialed in perfectly. My bike was awesome
all day.”

Haagsma’s second-place finish virtually guarantees
him his third STI Quad X Open Pro ATV title
with a seventeen point lead heading into the
final round. “Maxxis and Elka Suspension have
made this bike nearly perfect all season,”
said Haagsma. “Beau always does well here,
and I’m always looking for a good race. It’s
good to keep getting points, and staying ahead.
We’re pretty secure going into the final event,
so I’m hoping to just relax in the last race
and battle it out with Beau.”

“The Maxxis Tires made all the difference
today,” said Haagsma, whose consistency paid
off in both motos. “I got second at the start
of the first moto and fell back to third.
By the time I got into second, first was out
of reach, and it came down to the second moto.
I got an inside line at the start of the second
moto. I got second on the first lap in one
of the split lanes. Cody (Bradbury) fell off
at the midpoint, and I capitalized on it.”

Baron took out his wife’s bone stock Polaris
RZR XP 1000 UTV for the event, and he battled
his way to a top three overall finish. “I
was just trying to hang with these guys,”
said Baron, who finished third in both motos.
“I’m pretty timid in the stock RZR, but it
is amazing how well they perform.”
