Hello people. I was wondering what your thoughts were on the 250ex? I really want one ,but I dont want it for racing really I just want it to race my friend on down the road and ride up in the moutains and stuff. I just want it to at least do 55 or faster than my dads rancher at least. Thankz for your comments....

well they are better on trails then on jumps being that the shaft drive limits their suspension travel if you want to jump get a 400 or at least a 300 but some people do jumps on a 250ex if you are eventually going to want to modit out get a 300 cause u still have reverse but a whole ton of mods for it

    250EX

Even as a BIG fan of the 250EX (ours has been a GREAT starter bike for my boys...13 and 9), I would say if you want 55mph, you better plan on some mods right away. Depending on how old you are, you may "outgrow" a 250EX pretty quickly.

if you just like to ride

just get the 250, but if you are one of these youts that must be changing everything all the time get the 300, but if you just want to ride and have fun the 250 will do it for you

If money and age are not a factor...i'd say get a 300ex at least. Reverse comes in handy on trails...the clutch is easy to learn and can actually help in some situations over an auto...They have more travel...a chain drive...and are perfect for learning as well as having the potential for alot more mods in the future as you get better acustom to the machine. The 250ex's are fun little machines but do not offer much in the way of progressing farther once you have mastered it stock. There are also very little aftermarket parts compared to 400's and 300's

The 250 is fun but doesnt do 55. The only things aftermarket for performance you can do is exhaust, airfilter, jetting, and I found a 11:1 comp piston. and you cant gear them down unless you put on smaller tires. they are really fun and ride wheelies better then any quad I have ever rode. If I had enough open space I could probably ride a wheelie for a half mile on mine. No Bull. I love it. But I now want something much bigger and badder. Like a DS650 or something. Hopefully honda will comeout with something big. But even when I do get a new quad the 250 will still be in my garage for having fun and screwing around on.

Will it out run my dads Honda Rancher ( stock ) or even my neighbors 300 2wd drive honda ( stock but fast ) I mean I really like the 250ex b/c of the gears and manual I am not a big racing guy I just want something my size and sporty that looks good and hows some power to get up and go ( torque )? does it haave some of that? I am wanting something faster than the 300hondas and the foremans around here. If it cant beat them than I am more than likely not going to mess with it. I am 15 and money is a critical thing that another reason why I want the 250ex. Please keep posting comments please. Thkz alot .

A 250ex will not beat a 450 Foreman, nor a 350 Rancher. You can find a very nice used 300ex for less than a new 250ex. If you want something new you might try a Blaster. It doesn't have reverse but it is a fun little bike and much faster than a 250ex. I would recommend a LT250r which you could pick up cheap and is much faster than any of the bikes you are looking at. It does have a lot of power and is not even in the same league as the 250ex or 300ex.

I own a 250ex, and love it! I did jet it and mod the exhaust which really helped the performance. I ride with 300ex and 400ex ATVs all the time and under normally riding conditions stay fine.
