Question - how many of you have complaints about the handling of a 400EX or 250R?

Why would you complain if Honda put the CRF engine in a similar chassis?

I think the nose is cut high like that to provide good airflow to the radiator - but that's just a guess....

nothing wrong with that, but i was just hoping for "new high tech trick doo dads" thats all....from what i see of the trx it looks like a 400ex with a different engine, plastic and a few other things, but who knows, maybe theres more to be seen still. basically i was expecting something new to the game...an alum frame...fuel injection....something.....

If that actually IS the new trx450r, I don't think it looks too bad. What do looks mean anyway,as long as it handles like it should and has sufficient power for a race quad? Most people are going to probably modify the plastics, remove the headlights, mod out the motor, etc. anyway! Just my two cents. I just can't wait to see this thing in person!:blah:

That is definitely it, just missing the tank though. Out of respect to not name names, it was loaned to one company, who sent it to one of their top retailers, then to another aftermarket company where it was being mocked up and fitted for their new stuff, that's when the picture was snapped! Steel frame, aluminum sub, kick start no reverse should put it in the 335 range. In the high resolution pic, you can figure out the players.

I'm not CERTAIN that it's the rear rezzie, that's just my first guess. I know the line for the rear rezzie on the 400EX is pretty long, I think most people mount it to the frame under the gas tank. It's the same color as the the elkas, and I can almost make out the outline of a rezzie through the bumper screen.

You're right. It definitely looks like a rezzie. It also looks like the hose to the rezzie runs from the back shock right up front there. Am I seeing that correctly or is that hose for the engine or something else?

Well it looks like Elka has had the specs on the bike for a while, along with Roll design ( steering stem) , AC Racing ( bumper and skid plate) , and Duncan Racing must have soem parts for it on the machine cuz I can see a DR sticker on the bike . Looks like they have removed the stock chain cuz its sitting on the forklift. LOL . Hmm what else can you spot in the picture???

I'm sure this aftermarket parts company doesn't want Honda breathing down their necks about why pics were released when they were told to keep it a secret. In addition to Kenny's reply, there are several other companies that are associated with this quad and the said pic. We are risking their business by posting these pics and we've got too much respect for them. Why disrupt a relationship they might have with Honda just so you can see a pic of a quad that you're going to see in 5 hours anyway? Again, there's other websites that obviously don't share this respect so if you go there you'll find pics.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong - but at 8:30pm PACIFIC /11:30pm EASTERN time the pics will come up for people in the Honda club - but they will not be posted on the main Honda site until 12a PACIFIC/3a EASTERN.

If someone that has access to the Honda club post the pics shortly after 8:30pm PACIFIC /11:30 EASTERN is that cool? I mean the cat's pretty much out of the bag at that point, I'm sure the Honday club has thousands of members.

trust me people...we would much rather be looking at pictures and talkin about the quad then deleting posts and pictures. but we have a duty to uphold some standards that other websites wont. thats fine by us....we know what honda has to say about us...we also know what the atv industry thinks of this site. we arent #1 for nothing.

A lot of people are dissing on this bike, but I could not be happier.
To me the frame looks identical to the 400ex accept the alumumem tube sup frame. This is fine with me because maybe a lot of the 400ex parts will interchange. Sure looks like the A-arms and shocks will. I like the front dual pistion brakes to. Hell the cfr motor is alot lighter then the ex motor so the bike will be around 350 pounds and haul ***!

I don't know if anyone noticed - but it appears to have some sort of steering linkage like the predator. Take a look - the tie rods don't connect to the stem.

Has anyone noticed from the picture that if the frame is the same as the 400ex, then honda must have changed the front shock upper mounts. I'd bet the Pro Taper Bars, the steering stem front bumper nerfs shocks are not real HONDA mods; I'd bet the only mod HONDA installed on this THUMPER is a TURBO right under the seat!!!! HEHE. But seriously, it wouldn't be tough for HONDA to release a turbo quad, they have TURBO watercrafts!! ;)

that was my gig, if the prices are on par with the 400 im all 4 it people are going to put on the a arms shock and stuf of there own. i think that there is too much hype put in 2 it. duvall has lead the points all year on a ex. only thing was that i costs so much to make it fast. but if the frame geo was good . price yamaha and suzuki parts aganist honda parts and u will understand.

Hence the difference of weight from the YFZ. All you need to do is take the battery and starter off the Yammy and add the kicker and you are around 335-340.

I have this funny feeling that Honda is going to cut corners on the stuff that normally gets replaced by racers, i.e. a-arms, front shocks, so they can save a buck on the production. That's fine for people that can afford those things, but I have to applaud Yamaha for making an honest attempt at an almost race ready bike that amatuers can afford. I especially like the fully adjustable shocks and the bent, long travel-type a-arms. I'll be pretty disappointed if I don't see atleast fully adjustable shocks, and an anti-vibe stem would be nice. BTW, I tried to read as much of this thread as I could, so hopefully I don't fit into the RIF catagory:blah:
