The cam and piston should get you close. Alot of guys run the CP "TECH" 11.5:1 piston with good results.

I don't think you're gonna pick up 8hp with just piston and a cam. I would do some porting along with the piston and the cam. The porting alone should get you 3-5hp depending on where you have it done. With those three things you should be close to 60hp.

how much does porting cost? what are the benifits? are there any drawbacks to porting?

Cost depends on who does the porting. I had mine done at mmad in california and he charges 550 for tear apart and clean, porting reassembly, flow bench and a little valve job. It increases the intake ports and exhaust ports so more air can move through which increases power. There aren't any drawbacks to porting that I know of.

I have a '07 yfz450 with a yoshi rs-7 exhaust, modquad intake with oversized k&n filter, cam mod, 12.5:1 high compression piston with the porting and I am probably around 50-52 hp. It smokes my dads '06 raptor 700, he has exhaust, filter and programmer. I am gonna get a set of cams and get my carb bored out next.

Go sign up on raptorforum.com and send VelociRaptor a PM. I've heard nothing but good things about his port work. His name is Bo.

Its a really good site too. You can learn alot over there.

You're going to need to do some head work, cam and piston. With the right tuning you can get 60wrhp, however you might think about boring out your throttle body as well.

I have an 06 Raptor 700 with JE 12.5:1 piston, ported head, Web stg 2 cam, bored 3mm TB, Programmer, and Fuel ATV intake. Makes 64rwhp and 59lbs/tq. I ride in the woods and is very reliable. Just find yourself a dyno and get that thing tuned, you will be surprised how much of a difference it will make.

well i went and got a 11 to 1 piston stage 3 cam +3tb and a dyntek programable ignition....from what i have read this will push me into the low 60's with out port work...im just not ready to do port work

With my 11.5:1, I was able to get 56 hp and 54 ft/lbs w/o head work and TB, So you should be right on if not pretty close.
Good Luck

Another thing that would make a big difference is losing the HMF system. The Barker and DMC duals are making around 4 1/2 more peak hp than the HMF or any single exhaust for that matter. And around 8 hp more around 8k. That was looking at dyno sheets on the same machine just different exhausts. My HMF is coming off ASAP. Im probably gonna go with the Sparks XX6 MX. Supposedly its putting out the same hp as duals.

ill agree with you about the duals....but i was told that they only make that 4.5hp and 8 peak hp when you get past 60hp...so from my understanding if your not even close to 60 your not really leaving that much hp on the table...i understand i might me losing 1 or 2 with the hmf but i cant believe that a big 3 raptor with duals would put out 4.5 more hp than one with just a full pipe....but i could be wrong...check out raptorforum.com if anyone would know someone on there would.

Sorry, it was moddedraptor.com...Here is the pipe shootout though. It was just the HMF that scored the lowest. But its still crazy that an exhaust could make that much of a difference!!

Sredrum over on yfztech also does them. He bores a lot of yfz's and now also does the throttle bodies on a couple different machines. Here is a link to his prices.
