it will be cheaper to buy one already done, if you have to pay some one to do the welding and fabrication. if your not able to do it yourself, most guys by a dirt bike, because u need the electrical, carb, motor mounts and engine. then u have to custom fit an exhaust system. it very time consuming, i know i have built several.
i have seen several 400ex hybrids go cheap (3-5k) and i am talking about all decked out, after market shocks, a-arms, axle, swing arm, stem, etc.

i just built one but i was able to o all the work myself, it will be easier to just buy one done already but if you can weld it really is not that hard to do if you buy a kit from jb here is mine

its going to be hard to find someone willing to trade there hybrid for a 400ex. some of these guys have the better part of 20k into their hybrids. i would look for a deal on a used aftermarket frame subframe and no link rear end or buy an already built hybrid. im not sure who is still doing frame conversions.

Call up JB racing, I believe they may convert the stock frame for you. They also sell crf conversion kits. If you want an aftermarket frame, JB should still have their jigs and make you one. Or search for a used frame.
