i am not going tomorrow. i just got back from making a ride at one of jerimiah's friends. he has a nice peice of land with a few jumps and a real long straight. i like the flex bars they work well. i made a few runs and jumps on jerimiah's 450 and you could definitly tell a difference in the 2 quads suspension. i am on vacation the week between xmas and new years so i will get some time then. i am working every day till dec 22. so far it looks like 6 quads are going with us to the dunes for new years....should be a good ride

Yeah HB, that was us. Should came introduce yourself man. We just talked a lot more than we road haha. That yfz was decent but i wasnt impressed. It was stupid loud though :(. I like how 4 strokes still maintain awesome low end even though they get a lot of engine work. the 450's/400s were stand the front end up in 3rd and 4th down the strip. Pretty neat. There was a yellow 400 suzuki quadsport doing very well too. I always thought the quadsports were a good bit slower than their big brother the quadracer. Goes to show u i know nothing about them! haha.

As for me, i spent most of yesterday afternoon wrenching. I adjusted my clutch, wow was it out of adjustment! I also installed a chain slider and that took almost an act of congress to get on there. Once i read the instructions i had it on in minutes:rolleyes: . Tomarrow i will go ride it and see if she shifts good.

As for the grill, i love it too. cant be beat for $30 shipped.

HB, if you head out there let me know man. I am not going unless i can find someone to ride with. I'm pretty sure that guy i was with last time(red/white shee), we going this week sometime.

quite a few of us are going to the spillway saturday so if anyone is there stop in and say hey. What is your feedback on the Flexx bars? I have really been thinking of a set after riding with yours, I loved the bend and the feel, but they are big $$ and I am debating on whether they or worth it. What setup are you running?

i wont post pics until i have everything on. waiting on nerfs and my grab bar. the aluminum catches your eye and throws the whole thing off. so i will wait till it is all blacked out. i like the color it is very neutral and blends well. i like the flex bars alot but i think you still need a stabilizer as the flex bars dont take the side to side impact out. i got the presicion on just have not had a chance to try it. i think together they will work great only downfall is the money for all that but it is worth it. i love the revalves also money well spent. just need the tires...lol. the bend i have i dont remember. i know it is the dirtbike bars. i told colby what riser i wanted and he suggested the dirtbike bars because the bend and height would match the riser better. i went with his suggestion and i feel it is good. they are a little higher than stock which is more comfy when standing but dont rake back too far. the riser i have is the trail tech.

went good put up signs and cut grass. they bulldozed most of area 1 so it will be alot smoother. is supposed to open july 19. as of now we are going to dunes

Yeah, we are undecided about what we are gonna do b/c we still haven't hit up Sandstone (plans failed) and want to, but with ya'll going to the dunes it is a tough call. The plus to the dunes is maybe we can try out the 05 in some sand...I basically took the bike over and have been tuning it in over the last couple weeks - we went back with the stock swinger and all of that good stuff, too. Finally resolved the recent fuel problem and it is doing pretty well. Stock carb and CDI and it pulls the **** outta the black 07 - especially on the top side (both with stock gearing). I take off outta fourth gear on dirt and it still lights the stockers up!

my motor was built by the first Switchin Gear mechanic, Ted. he quit and theyre closed now tho.

i was at the dunes with my boy kalen, the weekend before the 4th. i had to go back offshore for the 4th though. wish i coulda made that one!!

it was ok for the 4th alot of people but not alot of racing like usual(normally fri nite till sunday) we got ants in the tent as did our neighbors on each side the hot water heater in the showers didnt work....ice cold. most people stayed in the lake. kalen was there that weekend also his chain came off and broke a case. one good outcome of the weekend was i sold the idea of a toyhauler to the wife :devil:

the ones on the 416 are 8 paddle extremes. they work well with that quad but it also has an 8 disc clutch. on the 450 they spin too much.

My friend said he raced some dude on a brute force that said he could take 400's all day long. The guy on the brute force had a little motor work done. Not sure if thats you...just thought it was b/c you said it'll beat 400s in your post.

that guy had the green brute. he had a lil motor work done he beat mine. mine will beat stockish piped 400's any more than that no...but not bad for a 600 pound quad with a trailer hitch ball...lol. no ad i thought about stopping and enjoy the break yall were taking. that 800 v twin cvt should be a very consistant quad. what you going to do for the final drive? chain etc. they did have a pretty fast 400 out there that weekend that red 465ex he pulled pretty hard out the hole. he pulled my 450 out the hole every time after we got going i could hold him but the damage was already done.

im going to mount a jackshaft close to where the swingarm bolt is. its gonna have a pulley for the belt and a sprocket that will line up with the rear sprocket. that way i can change gear ratios more effectively. if i didnt, i would have to put a rear sprocket that is almost the same size as the rear wheels just to get the ratio right!

the grab bar is an AC and the nerf and heel guards are ims. they were powdercoated by pappy on here. so far the pc has held up well.

From the interection of Pinhook and Verot get on Pinhook as if you are going towards Broussard. You'll pass up Faulks(the truck accessory place) about a half mile after you pass Faulks on the right will be a wooden sign that says "Canebreak" or "Canebrake"...dont remember how they spell it. Turn right there. Follow it down about a 100yds to the stop sign, take a left, they'll be a yeild sign right after you turn, make a left again and they are right there on the right.

I can throw a rock from my office and hit thier shop. I havent had anything done by them yet but they seem to stay very busy. There's usually a few badass race boats at the shop to check out too. If you get some work done by them let me know how it turns out.

pappy was 15 for the grab bar and 30 for the nerf heel guards i think 15 for the bumper. it was done in january. i ride my quad xc mostly so it gets abuse. as far as shipping i am not sure. i bought the bumper from him. the nerfs from c&d they shipped to him and him to me. the grab bar was like 10 to ship to him and he threw it in the nerf box for the trip home. i am not blowing his horn i really dont beleive in that but his work is some of the best i have ever seen. real even texture no chips or peeling. i am satisfied. if you want to do it local doesnt cp customs do pc also? yes that was the 465...it does run good and looks stockish....gotta love it. i still love to see a quick ex it always puts a grin on my face.

Looks like it will rain pretty much all day today so testing today may be out.

I've got family coming for the weekend so going to the dunes wont happen but I'll be going within the next 3 weeks for sure.

If Im not mistaken Highlifter was working on a park in that area that may have an MX track and some trails but Im not 100% sure. Also there is the Kisatchie Forest trail system that's not too far from there....I think anyway.

Yes they do. Sadly it seems its not in the condition it once was though. Looking at some pics on their site it was once VERY well taken care of with a tree and all. Now its not really maintained at all, has grass, and its a bit rough and rutted because they let trucks run on it. Kinda sucks but if they would fix it up again and keep it up it would be a great track.

it is a different place to ride. they groom the drag area but can only run 2 at a time. i prefer to run alot at a time. i like the nerfs banging that is racing...lol it is a good place though. i prefer the camping at the dunes though. we usually just go for a day ride in wiggins. no night riding there either. the guy that owns it is way cooler than barney....but burnt clutch plates have a better personality than barney. also too over you meet people from the other side a different crowd than the dunes. both places have good points and bad.

mostly the lower end of the parish and the east side of houma that get the water. i live on the west side it is a higher elevation. alot of gustav debris flying around though. yall sould be getting some winds off it too.

Eh I need to get back to riding. I haven't made it out anywhere in like forever. My Dad got in an accident a little while back and he goes in for his second surgery Monday....they are taking bone out of his hip and putting it into his leg to get it to kind of rejoin since the shattered end is starting to seperate again. And the last time I went riding I tore my skid plate out of the bolts and slung my chain....I have no idea how I did either lol but yeah, all of this hurricane business is not making me happy lol. Glad nobody seems to have made it out too bad at this point....we had all minor damages. Woohoooo

Charter sucks major balls...after gustav we had power and cable back within 5 days, but my friends who live in town still do not have cable and Charter tells them it will be another 2 or 3 weeks....EVERYTHING is back to normal over here except their street's cable system.

I still have to call Charter bc they didn't prorate this month for 5 days of no service.

Yeah they had my bike and another blue/silver 250r...looked almost identical except I have maier plastics and a trx-5 pipe.

We stayed by the lake most of the time and launched off a steep embankment...on sunday my freakin bike would bottom out on a whoop about halfway down the strip...my foot dug in the sand and almost pulled me off the bike :eek2: scared the crap outta me

Friday, January 9th, 2009 my riding buddy and one of my best friends died. at 11:30 PM Kalen crashed his motorcycle and broke his neck, he died instantly.

I love you bro, you were the best friend any guy could ask for. you will be missed and ill never forget you.

I was freaked out when I heard that...Kalen was one of the coolest, most laid back guys I've ever met...he never had a problem with anyone or anything...always in high spirits. It really sucks to lose a friend like that. Sorry to hear about that man.

They have a strip at the spillway? Whats the track made of...mostly dirt? Lookin for some new places to ride. Where is the spillway located?

spillway is not all that. they have no real good drag spots and it is rough. area 2 is the wooded area which is closed is the best part if you are into fast trail riding. area 1 is all open with some crappy tracks a small sand pit some whooped out roads. area 1 is alot more fun on a 4X4 than a sport. we barely go any more it is not worth the drive from lafayette.

Bayou Boy is basically right. They used to have a strip before they opened it in April. The terrain is dirt but some places have sand. It located over in Norco by the Valero refinery.

i love to fast trail ride but live a lil ways from you. (houma) i have a private woods track to ride/practice on. area 2 in the spillway has some good trails but it is always closed. sand stone trail in kisatchie forest has great trails. there are a few places in south mississippi also.

Pretty nice. Its not Glamis or Little Sahara but it can be fun. There are about 300 acres of sand, some trails, a creek and a pretty nice lake. On a normal weekend there is a good crowd but holiday weekends are PACKED. Their website is thedunesinc.com

You might want to head out to Sand Hill ATV it'll be about the same (I think better) and it would be closer.

maybe we will get lucky and barney will get out and let someone else that cares about the park and not the dollars take it. that place has so much potential. sand hill is nice but if the dunes were run by someone with an ounce of sense it would be alot better.
