For $4000, you can get a nice 450 with a few mods. Or, you could get a nice 400ex for around $2000, and use the rest for suspention or what-not.

I would buy a 400ex and keep the blaster. Maybe in a few more years you can sell both and buy a 450

Why keep the Blaster?

I would sell it and get a 450.

theres no where around here to find a 450 used :ermm:
my best bet would be a z400, 400ex, or a banshee.

get a 05 yfz 450 with a duncan fatboy full pipe kit (no spark arrestor) the stock tires are great you'll kill it around 100mph, i do it everyday in Florida !

So you had your fourwheeler in the back of your truck. 100mph:p

Get a 400ex if you ride tight trails because the 450's have a high first gear.

anyway, the 400ex would be the best choice of the ones you have listed for the type of riding you described...

I just sold my 400ex, and bought a 450r.

Get the 450r.

OR

Get a quad with reverse if you aren't riding competitvely.

if i where you i would get a 400ex. keep the blaster for sure. i just bought a o6 450er and love it but then two days ago i was at the dealer and say a blaster sitting there with pipes and all decked out and it is bad ***. i get out on the trails and have a great time with the 450 and then i take out the 2 stroke and have a great time with that too. i would not buy a yamaha just for the fact that two of my friends have them and they both locked up tighter than fort knox one day going accross a field. buy a 400ex there a very well built bike.

My cam/piped/jetted 450r keeps right up with (well it's actually dead even, as in switched riders, and the outcome is never the same, always within inches) piped/jetted +other stuff) banshee's.

It sounds like you need a 450, walk him in the trails, keep the lead OR gain some in the straights. It's a no brainer IMO.

That is, unless you plan on making an all out drag banshee, putting a new cylinder on it, etc. etc. How much work does your friends banshee have?
