Ok well i've been riding at the mx track for quite a while and im not to bad but i want to start to clear the jumps, like im sure if i shifted up a gear and just gave it i could because right now im going over them 3rd gear pinned, but the jumps are kind of weird cause they launch you like weird and when im like in the air its like i freeze up haha so i dont know what i should try but im going to attempt it tomorrow so i was just looking for some pointers. And i would also appreciate it if you could give me some pointers in the corner cause i want to be fast in them because im kind of slow because i slow down so much so thanks.

ok i kinda have the same prob you do but i dont race or im not starting to race but i have 2 doubles in my back yard in like a formation of a track but the rest is flat...the one jump is a 7 footer and the other is i think a 9 or 10 if not more..i tense up too in the air i just cant pull the no footers i want.but i got like 2 or 3 burms..what you do is pick a groove let off into the turn and then like half way out just gun in i got a 400 ex too but its 06 so try to be in like 2nd grear when you gun it out....idk if this will help this is what i do and it works for me ..but the jumping doesnt work for me.anyway the corning i think im real good at so try it...if i rong please correct me people...thnx:D

just keep the revs up so you hit the face at steady speed, dont blip the throttle or bog down, and stay loose dont tense up, if its your first time clearing a new jump I usually over jump it to be sure I dont case and to judge the speed at which I need to hit it

Yup, You want to keep on the gas through the jump, most people speed up to the the jump and then let off the gas and that tends to throw the front end down. I did that at the dunes...ate some sand and had a sore back for 2 weeks. LOL :blah:

I would recommend the same thing on the jumps, but it all depends on the type of jumps you're going to hit- like if its doubles, table tops, doubles w/ lips, etc. But in the turns just never let off all the way always be on the throttle. The turns vary aswell so it's kinda hard to give you advice on what to do w/ out actually looking at your track. Good luck though.

start off with trying to go faster only with the parts of the track that you are comfortable with. for jumps pick a small table top (preferably one you can already clear). just practice turning the bars in the air, i dont want to say do it to show off but thats what alwase loosens me up. next try to "tweek" the quad in the air by applying opposit pressure to the bars (up on one side, down on the other). you might be saying "but how does this makes me a better jumper?". it makes you able move in the air and make mid-flight corrections. once you become less tence with the smaller table tops move to larger ones making sure you take your time and dont scare your self. sometimes it takes a week or two working on a jump but after you conqure it on one track it then it three times as easy to learn and clear. as far as doubles go just fine a table top about the same size, clear that, then hit the double a little harder than you would the table. this ensures that you will clear the jump, its alwase an easyer landing going to long than coming up short. in turms as corners your body is almost never as far off to the inside as it can be. the farther you are off the harder it is to flip over. it also makes it easyer to slide the bike so you can make tighter turns at higher speeds. also braking is important so practice full throttle into corners then full brake. you will besuppried how short you stop. just full gas then full brake and dont let off the brake until you stop. keep going further and further untill you blow through your first berm, and im serious. same with speed in corners. you dont know just how fast you and your quad are capeable of going in turns untill you go past the "braking point". hope some of that helps. if all else fails i just end up getting stupid. i say to my self im going balls to the wall and if i wreck, i wreck but ill never know if i can do it untill i do it or wreck trying. and if you still end up not having enough confidence after all that then talk to one of the local "good guys". explain o him what you are trying to do and ask him if you can follow him off one of the jumps. this gets your speed just right the first time. wow that was alot.
