My worst fear was realized.........I have lost one of my children due to illness. He was such a happy loving child. We will miss and love him always. For those that knew him, funeral arrangements will most likely be this Friday, 1-27-06

I'm so sorry that you, your wife and your family are going through this. I went through this 15 months ago when my oldest son was killed in a car wreck. Just know that you will get through this and that there are alot of people out there that are keeping you and your family in their prayers. While the pain is immense right now, it will lesson over time and your memories of him will only grow stronger. I would say God Bless You, but He already did that when he gave you your son and allowed you the chance to know and love him.

Joe, being a parent myself, I understand there isn't anything that I can say or do to rest your mind from the loss of your child, and I would be completely devastated if I lost my little girl.

I will tell you not to blame yourself for your son’s death because I also almost died when I was 4 years old with pneumonia. I was in the hospital for over a week in a air bubble and the doctors told my parent that if I was admitted to the hospital just a few hours later, I wouldn’t have survived, and mom still talks about it till this day, and I just turned 33 on Jan 22, so I have a very close connection to your experience.

I will pray for you and your family, and if there is anything that I can do, let me know

I get on here, I give tech advice, I crack jokes, but when a truly tragic and sorrowful situation happens, I'm choked up. I don't know how to convey my sympathies.

I'm not a real emotional guy. The last time I cried was about three years ago, oddly enough, when a really good friend lost a 4yr-old daughter to pnemonia. I saw that little pink casket in that church, surrounded with flowers disney characters, and couldn't help but picture my own 4-yr daughter in there. The only time in my life I've ever been frozen with fear, literally.

I can't even begin to tell you how sorrowful I feel, but I can echo Harlen's words. Don't blame yourself, apparently it's far more common then any of us would like, no use beating yourself up for circumstances beyond your control. Your family is going to need somebody strong to lean against.

I hate when I hear of families losing a child . My son had an illness just as your son did. I wish there was words to say how sorry I am but I know there isnt. But I can tell you its going to be a very long haul,you will go threw ALOT of mixed emotions,sadness,anger,guilt,blame,shock ....some of this wont all be absorbed for a bit then it will hit you out of no where....this is all natural but soooo very hard and its VERY hard on the family as a whole.

I remember feeling like apart of myself died with my son. I got very depressed and kept alot inside.. PLEASE dont do that, make sure you all talk Its very important ...

I think I started reading this thread on page 3, or where ever I left off posting pics. That was 1 hour ago. I read each and every one of your kinds words. Nobody wasted their time typing in this thread. I don't remember ever reading a 15 page thread and feeling every word in it. Thank you ALL so much.

after the funeral service we will gather for a short time in the fellowship hall of the church.
then we will take our family and very closest friends to our property for the graveside ceremony.

Some of my family has offered to contribute to the purchase of a headstone. I thought that would be a nice way for everyone to share in the permanent structure we will view everyday from our window, and be able to visit as a symbol of his life, death and also the friendship and family that has shown us so much support.
No one should feel obligated to participate, but if funds are recieved, thats where they will be spent. Guaranteed.

I plan to print this thread and display it at the church with the other items remembering his life. There are so many beautiful words written here.
