Can-Am has their Wildwood braking system on the X mx model which features exclusive inverted dual-piston calipers. The braking system has wave-type front and rear rotors that offer better cooling and increase handling abilities. The front brake lever on the model had a very easy pull and it felt very smooth while engaging the front brakes. Little felt that overall the brakes added to his control of the machine and didn’t see any issues with them on out test ride.
Other great upgrades include aluminum nerf bars, adjustable-width axle and ITP QuadCross MX Pro and ITP T-9 wheels. The DS450 X mx can truly go straight from the show room to the starting gate.

Our biggest dislike of the machine was the seat, “I really didn’t like the seat. It was hard and could’ve been padded a lot better,” said Little.
Our overall impression of the Can-Am DS450 X mx was positive. The quad was lightweight and had good handling. It worked very well for an “out of the box” race quad. The quad is set up good enough to take any amateur level racer from the show room to the podium. And we feel that with just a few engine adjustments and an aftermarket exhaust could compete successfully at the professional level.

“It was pretty neat to ride a production quad that was truly track ready. Not many other 450’s are set up from the factory to take on a motocross track. I hopped on the DS and it actually worked; now that is the coolest part,” regarded Little after his test ride.
