"The FOX suspension worked really well. It was a bit soft for me, but we could have easily adjusted that. It felt great over the large jumps and soaked up the choppy sections equally as well. Overall, I was impressed with the suspension for a show room model ATV,” said Little regarding the FOX suspension.

The Can-Am DS450 X mx comes with a Rotax four-stroke engine which features a large piston bore, intake valves and throttle body. The engine has a free flow design and electronic fuel injection which helps create impressive power for a stock model. Little put the Rotax engine through its paces both off the gate and over jumps.

The
Can-Am DS450's electronic fuel injected engine
packs a punch for a stock ATV |
The DS 450 X mx came off the gate well for a stock sport model, but we think with a few adjustments and the addition of an aftermarket exhaust you could have the perfect combination. Little also flew over some jumps and the DS450 X mx seemed to pull pretty hard as he conquered the track.

Former
Pro motocross racer, Keith Little, felt the
Can-Am DS 450 X MX would benefit from an aftermarket
exhaust system with a EFI programmer to open
up the power a bit off the starting gate |
“The engine ran well, I just had to keep it high in the RPM’s so it wouldn’t bog down. It launched pretty well off the start, but I would’ve liked a little more engine. I think that the engine has great potential and if you address getting an aftermarket exhaust and a programmer it could be right where I would like it,” regarded Little of the Can-Am DS450 X mx’s power.
Also included in Can-Am’s effort to make the DS 450 X mx model motocross ready is a +1 anti-vibe steering stem and +2 A-Arms. The anti-vibe steering stem allows for easier steering while still maintaining total control around the track. The A-Arms measure 50 inches wide which alleviate the need to purchase aftermarket ones.

“The DS450 X mx steers really well. It is very light and nimble. I was able to corner really sharply and felt that it was predictable coming out of the corners. It was easy to really put the quad where ever you wanted it,” explained Little of the handling capabilities of the Can-Am DS450 X mx," stated Keith Little |
