Spectators
gathered along the fence to catch the start
of the Pro ATV race |
It was hot and dusty at Cahuilla Creek MX, but
that wasn’t enough to stop Beau Baron from
extending his points lead over challenger, Josh
Frederick.

DWT's
#49 Dillon Zimmerman grabbed the Pro ATV
Holeshot followed by #549 Beau Baron &
#422 David Haagsma
|
As the gate dropped, Baron was in the number
two spot off the line, right behind Dillon Zimmerman.
“It was really tough to see and I knew I
had to stay close. There were a few times I came
up on some square edges and nearly went over the
bars, but I knew I had to stay as close to Dillon
as possible if I was going to make a pass,”
explained Baron.

Racing's #549 Beau Baron followed Theo's
pit message "Pressure him on Moto"
with Baron making the pass on #49 Dillon
Zimmerman on the motocross track in lap
five to take over the lead |
Baron recorded the fastest lap time of the race
in lap two, with a time of 08:31.592, and that
incredible speed is what allowed him to stay close
and make his move in lap five. “I was eating
a lot of dust and I still couldn’t see but
I knew we were coming up on the motocross section
and once we got there, I was able to see well
enough and got around him,” said Baron.

Maxxis'
#549 Beau Baron secured his 4th win of the
year to extend his Pro points lead to 18
points heading into the final round of the
2012 WORCS racing season |
The number 549 racer pulled a good gap and was
able to hold the lead even after stopping for
fuel. Baron held his lead for the rest of the
race, but he had expended so much energy in the
first few laps of the race, it began to take a
toll on him. “In the last lap, Dillon closed
in and it took everything I had to hold him off,
but I did it and took the win. That gave me a
bit of a cushion in the points lead, so as long
as things go well and I can finish at the final
round, I can wrap up the title,” said Baron.
