Mystik Lubricant’s Mickey Thomas followed Luburgh throughout the race, looking for the slightest bobble. In the end, he couldn’t catch Luburgh.

Mystik's Mickey Thomas got off to a second place start behind Luburgh

“Jason and I came out one two at the start and it stayed that way; I couldn’t catch him,” said Thomas. “I was waiting for him to make a mistake, but he never did. He’s such a smooth driver. The track is really good this year. There was a lot more room to pass with many more lanes. They have almost three lanes in every corner, which makes for some good racing. This is a good start. Jason is the defending champion, so we’re gunning for him.”

Ziegler's Dana Creech battled his way through traffic to take over the third spot with Ray Bulloch & Cole Cottew in chase

“I finally got to third, but Mickey and Jason had checked out,” said Creech. “I tried to stay comfortable and not break my car. The track design has a lot more flow. We took a couple of sections out to keep more momentum. There was a lot of passing and some fun jumps out there. There are triples or doubles or you could just roll the course. We designed it with the driver’s choice; they could go as big as they wanted to.”
