Yamaha's Chad Wienen Wins SSQSA ATV
Motocross Season Finale
Walsh's Cody Gibson
Wins Top Gun ATV Championship
As they left the line for the Top Gun Main, it
was Walsh’s Cody Gibson grabbing the holeshot
once again, with Yamaha’s Chad Wienen right
on his grab bar for several laps.

Cody Gibson held the lead for several laps
with Wienen in chase |
Wienen followed closely and waited for an opportunity
to take over the lead. Wienen got his chance in
a section of the track the included a split lane.
Wienen took the inside line and edged out Gibson
for the lead. “Cody made a bit of a bobble
on the outside and I had a good line on the inside.
I kind of gave him an option to let off and that’s
how I got by him,” said Wienen.
After making the pass on Gibson, Wienen kept
a good pace and cruised to the finish line in
the number one spot. Wienen, who has only been
riding for a month since his crash, was pretty
happy about winning his second race aboard the
Yamaha.
“I really had fun out there. This was my
second race and I have been on the quad for less
than a month. This was a good way for us to come
out here and see how it will handle under race
conditions, and it performed really well,”
said Wienen. The number 44 will be making his
return to the AMA ATV Motocross Championships
in March with his mechanic Ryan Cox by his side
in hopes of winning the championship that has
eluded him for several seasons.

ITP's
#728 Jeffrey Rastrelli secured the 2nd spot
over Madl |
JB Racing’s Jeffrey Rastrelli, who will be
turning pro this season at the AMA ATV Motocross
Championships, was in a heated battle with Mark
Madl, who will also be joining the AMA Pro ATV motocross
ranks as well in 2012.
Rastrelli got the jump on Madl off the start, but
Madl would not back down and the pair battled relentlessly
from start to finish. Madl was able to briefly pass
Rastrelli late in the race, but Rastrelli quickly
reclaimed the second position and held it to the
checkered flag.

Decal's #41 Mark Madl will move to the Pro
Class in 2012 on a Honda TRX 450R ATV |
SSi Decal’s Mark Madl made the switch from
Suzuki to the Honda TRX450R for this season and
it seemed to suit him well. “We’re doing
really well with the new quad. We have a lot of
people backing us this year and we are going to
try and come in as strong as we can,” stated
Madl, who claimed third overall for the day.
Cody Gibson was looking very fast on his Walsh
CRF 450 Hybrid. Gibson made a strong effort to
move back up after stalling out in the fourth
lap and losing his lead, when Chad Wienen shut
him out. Gibson remounted his charge, but ended
up getting briefly hung up on a berm. After his
second mishap, Gibson decided to play it safe
in order to be able to finish and claim the SSQSA
Top Gun championship, which rewarded him with
$1,200 toward his 2012 AMA ATV Motocross Championship
entry fees.

Cody Gibson claims the SSQSA Top Gun Championship |
“This has been a great series for me to come
out here and get back in shape and build up my confidence.
This is a great series and I’m really happy
to win the championship here,” stated Gibson,
who will be returning to the national circuit for
2012 after a one year absence from racing. When
Gibson makes his return to the national series,
he will racing in the Pro-am Unlimited class aboard
the new Walsh CRF Hybrid, and in the Pro-am Production
class he will once again be aboard a Suzuki LTR450.
“The Walsh Hybrid has quite a bit more power
and is about 40 pounds lighter than the Suzuki,
and I really like it,” said Gibson, who is
hoping to make a lasting impression and take home
a championship in both Pro-Am classes.
With the season end of the SSQSA series, Wienen,
Gibson, Madl and Rastrelli will be training hard
for the first round of the 2012 AMA ATV Motocross
Championships, which kicks off on March 24th –
25th at Aonia Pass MX in Washington, GA.
