On such a rough track as Capeway Rovers, this
is hard on the rider and machine but Nate stuck
it out for the remaining three laps, only giving
up one position in the last moments of the race.
Morello commented after the race; “ I
was holding strong and riding my race, and all
of a sudden the shock gave out! I tried hanging
on as best I could but Jasmin got around me
at the end. I’m happy with the holeshot
and to be up front again.”

With
a securely bandaged wrist, Michael Pilotte
set out to salvage some points for himself
at his hometown track at Capeway, &
that's what he did as he went 4-3 in the
Pro Class to secure 2nd overall on the
day |
The sandy soils at Capeway comprise the hometown
track of DRT/KTM’s Michael Pilotte. Still
recovering from a broken wrist only two-rounds
earlier, Pilotte put on an amazing performance
for his hometown crowd and went 4-3 on the day
for 2nd place overall.

The Pro Class was very exciting but with the
addition of more racers, and more talent the
Pro-Am Motos were sure to see hot racing action
as well.
The Pro-Am Moto one holeshot was a toss-up
between Honda mounted Johnny Hale and Yamaha
racer Jasmin Plante. Cody Miller got into the
back of Jason Connell and was ejected from his
ATV durng the holeshot, luckily he was uninjured
and remounted his Can-Am and restarted the race.
It was Plante with the lead as the Pro pack
round the first rutted turn after the finish
line rhythm section and out onto the front straight,
followed by Hale, Pilotte, Mofford, and Haavisto.

Former
AMA ATV Motocross Pro racer #16 Johnny
Hale made the trek out to Capeway for
round 5 & edged out Jasmin Plante,
Jason Connell & Mike Pilotte for the
holeshot in Pro-Am Moto One |
Plante was yet again the front runner in the
Pro/Pro-Am ranks as he lead from the gate drop
all the way to the checkered flag that flew
six laps later. He held his own and never looked
back as he piled on a sizeable lead on the rest
of the pack.

Yamaha's
#91 Jasmin Plante grabbed the early lead
from #16 Johnny Hale & checked out
on the rest of the pack as he went on
to claim the Moto One Win |
There was a three way battle for
2nd place between Joe Haavisto, Michael
Pilotte & Jason Connell, but in the
end, Haavisto prevailed to hold onto the
2nd spot |
Joe Haavisto didn’t get off the line
in the best of orders as he was just inside
the top five out of the holeshot, and on a track
as tight, and technical as this, it is difficult
to get a good passing opportunity. By the end
of lap one Haavisto was beating the odds and
made his way all the way up to third place just
behind leader Plante and runner up Hale. Lap
five was good to Haavisto as well as he passed
Hale for his final resting position in second
place.

Michael
Pilotte challenged Joe Haavisto for
the 2nd spot, but had to settle for
the third spot ahead of Jason Connell
|
Third place in moto one was owned by Michael Pilotte
who was on his second hard charge of the day.
After getting past Vinny Mofford and the former
AMA Pro ATV racer Johnny Hale in one of the back
sections of the sandy track, he began to drop
back slightly as he is still recovering from his
wrist injury and experiencing some fatigue, which
allowed Honda mounted Jason Connell to create
a charge but he was unable to make a pass on Pilotte
before the checkered flag flew.
