Lyman, ME - Round three of the New England ATV MX Series played
out at the fan and racer favorite MX207 race facility
in the southern Maine town of Lyman. The conditions
were beautiful and created a great atmosphere
for the weekend full of racing action. The warmth
and heavy breeze made the track a dust storm for
Saturday’s practice and in-between waterings
on Sundays race day making visibility and breathing
a difficult chore. BCS Performance’s Cody
Miller and Ultimate ATV Performance’s Canadian
racer Jasmin Plante battled through the dust and
heat to both come away with a win.

During
Sunday's motos, the staging area as well
as the spectating areas were packed with
fans watching the hot action on the MX207
motocross track |
|
The ARMY
was on hand & brought out their
rock wall cimbing obstacle to challenge
the racers & fans
|
The weekend was filled with fans being blessed by great weather and they were
all happy to not see a cloud in the sky. Rightfully
so, as historically MX207 is plagued with rain
and cold temperatures. The Wounded Warrior Foundation
was on hand with friends from the ARMY who set
up their annual rock wall for kids (and adults)
to climb for donations to the WWF.
Armed Forces Day at MX207 this year was also
kicked up a notch and Sunday was filled with
music to the tune of 7 seven local bands who
played under a huge circus tent near the staging
area for the entire day.

#8 DRT /
KTM's Michael Pilotte raced with one
hand on Sunda after he broke his left
wrist in practice on Thursday prior
to the race weekend
|
BCS Performance’s Ralle Rookey and Myles
Santaniello were both still out of the running
for this weekend as they are healing from injuries
suffered at round two. Canada’s Richard
Pelchat did not make it to MX207 this past weekend
as he suffered injuries to his ribs during a
practice session in his home country. DRT KTM’s
Michael Pilotte was not immune to the “injury
bug” as he too suffered a broken wrist
on Thursday prior to the race weekend which
had him down but not out as he competed in all
4 motos on Sunday and finished 8th overall in
Pro and 11th overall in Pro-Am.
Even though three riders were out for this
weekend’s race, we were joined by two
more – AMA ATV MX National racers Team
Southside Polaris’ Bobby Ross and local
New Hampshire native Nate Morello made his return
to the NEATV-MX series.
The Pro ATV class Moto One holeshot went to
Jasmine Plante on his Yamaha YFZ450 ATV as he
blisted off the line and pushed through the
first wood-chip clustered turn closely being
followed by Can-Am DS450 racer Cody Miller,
Honda pilots Jason Connell and Jesse Onesti,
and Motoworks’ Joe Haavisto.

Yamaha's
Jasmin Plante grabbed the Pro ATV Moto
One holeshot ahead of Jason Connell, Jesse
Onesti & Cody Miller |

#22 Cody
Miller and #91 Jasmin Plante traded
positions many times during the moto
one race, but it was Miller who crossed
the finish line in 1st place to claim
the win
|
By the end of lap one Miller had moved his way passed Plante to take over the
lead heading into lap two. Plante and Miller
played tag with eachother for the entire moto
with Plante getting back by Miller on lap two
and holding that position until the end of lap
5 when Miller put in a hard charge in the “double
– double” section and stuck a pass
on the inside of Plante to take back over the
lead and hold it for the next 2 laps and take
his first win of the day.
“I came out of the gate in third place
and just rode smooth and made the pass for second
on one of the long straights, it’s dusty
and dry here and I think my Goldspeed tires
made a huge advantage for me. I didn’t
push too hard because I knew I had to go for
all eight laps but I felt 100 percent and came
away with the win.” said Miller after
the race.
