Suger Grove, PA - The 10th Annual
Matt Bartosek Celebration race has always been and
always will be one of the greatest races that will
have ever been run at the MapleShade MX facility
in Sugar Grove, PA. With over 200 racer entries,
packed bleachers, and mostly sunny skies, it was
a great weekend for motocross racing. 2012 would
mark final edition of the Matt Bartosek Celebration
race and who better to take home the victory than
2-time defending Bartosek race winner Baldwin’s
#20 Josh Upperman.
The racing action was heating up just in time
for the skies to open up and dump a hefty rain
shower on the pro racers as they were heading
to the gate. This wouldn’t stop Baldwin
Motorsports’ Josh Upperman from tearing
off the gate and taking the moto one holeshot.

Baldwin's #20 Josh Upperman grabbed
the Moto One Holeshot followed by #174 Aron
Reisig & #88 Joel Hetrick |
Upperman would then continue to pound the mud
covered Pennsylvania track lap after lap fending
off charges from #88 Can-Am mounted Joel Hetrick.
With 20 minutes on the ticker, Josh would just
keep his head down and blast through the mud in
search of the checkered flag which he would eventually
find after crossing the line with his first moto
win of the day. “The mud was really thick
and heavy but I was able to keep up the momentum
and push on through to the finish,” said
Josh.

#20
Josh Upperman once again grabbed the Moto
2 Holeshot & Upperman lead from start
to wrap up the Overall win with a 1-1 finish
at the final Matt Bartosek MX Race |
Moto two for the Honda TRX450R mounted Baldwin
racer would end up much the same as Upperman would
once again come out on top after snatching another
holeshot. Josh would lead from start to finish
but this time would feel a bit more pressure from
the #88 of Hetrick. Lap riders would come into
play during the second moto but did not interfere
heavily as the two combatants made their way around
the track. Conditions for moto two were considerably
drier than the first and would allow them to both
fall into a faster and smoother pace, clearing
all of the jumps and deep rutted berms.

#20 Josh Upperman with Jodi Bateman &
Debi Bartosek |
“I got a great start thanks to my Baldwin
motor and Maxxis tires. They both really hooked
up and I was able to hold on to take home a 1-1.
This is my third time winning the Bartosek and
it feels really great to be surrounded by great
company and friends,” Upperman said.
