Maxxis' #1 Chris Borich Wins River
Ranch GNCC Pro ATV XC1 Class |
River Ranch, FL
(3/11/2012) – Round number one
of the 2012 Can-Am GNCC racing series kicked
off with at River Ranch in Florida where defending
pro ATV champion, Chris Borich never missed
a beat as he laid claim to the top spot on the
afternoon podium, where he was joined by Adam
McGill and Chris Bithell. In the morning classes,
current 4x4 Open champ Bryan Buckhannon topped
the podium, followed by Dave Simmons and Cliff
Beasley.
Weather for the day was mild with temps hovering
around the mid 70’s. The morning classes
enjoyed dry weather for the most part, but
just before the start of the afternoon race,
the skies let loose. Rain fell for the first
couple of laps and created a very rough and
rutted track in combination with the palmetto
roots.

Before the start of the race, Racer
Production's Jeff Russell presented
3 time Champion, Chris Borich, with
his 2011 GNCC Championship ring with
a diamond for each championship |
Love
is in the air for the GNCC Pro ATV Class
with both Chris Borich and Dawn &
Taylor Kiser and Julie getting engaged
during the off season. Also, Jeff Pickens
& Traci Cecco are getting married
this year |
Excitement and anticipation was high as racers
waited at the starting line, but once they
charged off the start, it was all business
as usual, especially for Chris Borich as he
employed his signature come-from-behind tactic
to secure the first win of the 2012 GNCC season,
in what will prove to be a competitive one.
|
Soon after all the Pro XC1 ATV Racers
lined up for the start of the race,
heavy rain showers moved in over the
track & the showers continued on
and off through the race, which made
for a wet day of racing for the season

Yoshimura's
#1 Chris Borich charges his way into
the lead in the final lap |
Yoshimura / Maxxis Tire’s Chris Borich
was quick off the start and was following
Adam McGill and Jarrod McClure closely as
he went into the second lap in the number
three spot. Borich fell back to sixth in lap
two after hitting a tree, but was able to
work his way back into the number two spot
after battling it out with Chris Bithell.
From there, Borich kept pace right behind
McGill, waiting for an opportunity to make
a move.
Borich did drop back going into the fourth
lap after Bithell came around to take over
the lead, but Borich was not about to settle
for anything less than a win. Borich came
from the number three spot taking over the
lead and claiming the season opener win in
his quest to secure the 2012 championship.

Bob's #1 Chris Borich Wins |
“We had a good race. It was tough because
I ended up hitting a tree when I was behind
Jarrod McClure and I had to work my way back
up from sixth. That kind of took its toll
on my clutch trying to catch back up in the
sand, but we pulled out the win!” stated
Borich.
Chris Borich did get a little scratched up
in the race, but it didn't seem to phase him
since he finished exactly where he wanted
to be for the start of the 2012 GNCC season..
