David Haagsma Wins 2014 ATV Pro Challenge Motocross
::Continued::

Thomas Brown was right behind Haagsma off the start, but a couple of mistakes cost him valuable time and allowed Haagsma to pull a good four-second gap. Haagsma stayed consistent ad was able to stay ahead and take the second moto win for the top spot on the podium and nice $3,500 payday.

“I had a great holeshot again and Thomas was right there, but he made a couple of mistakes and I was able to pull away a little. I have been training with Kory Ellis and it been great to have him there pushing me and helping me get faster. Thomas is a great rider and to be able to take the win makes me feel pretty good,” said Haagsma.

Yamaha’s Thomas Brown, who has raced many TQRA races in his career, was looking strong off the start in third in the first moto and quickly made the pass on Johnny Hale for second. Brown began to pressure the leader and went for a pass but was shut down and forced to stay in second.

“David was riding really smart and conservative for the first moto and it was tough to try and get around him. He was really on fire out there. He knew which line was the best line and he played it perfectly,” said Brown, who settled for a second place finish.

In moto two, Brown was in second off the start, but a couple of mistakes early in the moto, caused his to fall back a few seconds and give Haagsma some breathing room.

“I made a couple mistakes out there and it cost me the race. David was running really well out there and I would reel him in a bit and the next lap he would pull away. It was some really great racing out there and I am disappointed I didn’t win, but I was trying really hard and made mistakes and it cost me,” said Brown, who claimed second overall.

Even though he did not take the win, this was still a special event for Brown due to his friendship with the late Caleb Moore.

Although Thomas Brown did not take the win, he was honored to race in the memory of his friend Caleb Moore

“This race is really huge to me. I came out here and I wanted to win so bad. I feel like I was expected to win for Caleb and not winning; it’s not what I wanted to do. He would be pumped just to see everyone out here though. I know he is watching over us everyday and making sure we push ourselves to new levels everyday,” said Brown.
