2012 AMA Pro ATV Motocross
Round 9 - Red Bud
Buchanan, MI (8/2/2012) –The historical RedBud MX facility would play host to round nine of the AMA ATV Motocross series and the racing action would be as intense as ever! The buzz around the pits had everyone wondering if the rough track conditions might allow someone to run down Cody Gibson and steal his thunder in the highly coveted Pro Am production class. Gibson has already locked up the championship points battle but bragging rights were still up for grabs. Even Gibson himself could tell he was a marked man at this track and stated he wasn't as comfortable in rough conditions as he is on a more hard packed and run in track. The loose soil and deep ruts could prove to be Gibson's most challenging round of competition thus far.
Casey Martin - Honda 450R ATV
Cody Gibson - Suzuki LTR450 ATV
#75 Casey Martin grabbed Moto 1 Holeshot but #40 Cody Gibson was able to make the pass. Martin battled with Gibson back-and-fourth for the lead. It was Gibson who had the lead at the finishline to win Moto 1

Moto ones gate drop had everyone racing for the first turn as Casey martin grabbed the holeshot followed closely by Gibson. Martin knew he had a great opportunity and was seizing every advantage he could as the pair started to separate from the rest of the field. Gibson made the pass and over took the lead however Martin wasn't backing off and kept pressure on the leader. Martin capitalized on a mistake made by Gibson and found himself out front with Gibson stuck tight to his grab bar until Martin himself would suffer from a slight miscue allowing Gibson to take back the lead. The checkers would fly with Gibson taking the moto one win, followed by Martin and Kyle Fix.

The down time in between moto's was once again filled with chatter relating to Gibson being vulnerable. Gibson was sure he could fend off Martin as long as he could get a good start with the track offering few good places to make up ground. Martin was looking ahead at moto two as well, discussing how he knew he could take Gibson here and it would come down to the start and who could hold the pace before fatigue set in. For Nick Moser, the chance to get upfront was cut short due to a flat tire as he joined several riders who had mechanical issues in the first moto taking even further pressure off the front runners.

Cody Gibson Holeshot
Fasst Co.'s #40 Cody Gibson grabbed the Holeshot in Moto 2

Moto two fired off the gate however this time it was Gibson with the holeshot and the lead as the field of racers flew out of sight and dropped into the bottom section of the track. Kyle Fix was hanging close to Gibson as Martin shored up the third place position as the laps started racking up. The battle for second began to be the race to watch as Martin started closing in on Fix.
